Andy Cohen And Teresa Giudice Had ‘Top-Secret Lunch’ Days Prior To Prison

Andy Cohen will see Teresa Giudice for the first time since she began her almost year-long prison sentence on Tuesday night when she appears on his talk show Watch What Happens Live. What many viewers may find surprising is that Andy actually saw Teresa after the Season 6 reunion show of The Real Housewives of New Jersey filmed in October 2014. As reported by The Daily Dish, Andy, during his Sirius XM radio show on Monday morning, revealed that he and Teresa met up for lunch a few days prior to her starting her prison sentence.

Andy admitted that he got “very emotional” saying goodbye to Teresa.

“The last time I saw her on television was at the Jersey reunion, which was like a year and a half ago. The last time I saw her in person, we had a little top-secret lunch about 10 days before she went to prison. I went out to New Jersey and we had a very late lunch. And I have not seen her in person since that day. It was very emotional saying goodbye to her.”

As for some people’s criticism that Teresa should not be on TV because of the crime she committed, Andy pointed out that she has served her time and is paying back her debt. He also implied that he thinks that she got a heavier sentence because of her public profile. Andy straight out said that Teresa deserves a second chance.

“Say what you want about Teresa and what she has done, what I say is she paid her time. And some would argue that she got way more time than she would have gotten had it not been such a high profile case. The woman has served her time and she is paying back her debt to society and the government and I think that like everyone Teresa deserves a second chance.”

Teresa Giudice began her prison sentence for fraud in early January 2015. She arrived back home shortly before Christmas. As her lawyer confirmed to Entertainment Tonight, Teresa’s home confinement, and the requirement that she wear a monitoring device, ended last Friday. That day, Teresa tweeted that she was feeling “so blessed.”

Andy explained his decision to not see Teresa prior to Watch What Happens Live going live on Tuesday.

“I am going to see her for the first time. I was emailing with my producers yesterday and I said, ‘You know what? I think I want to see her tomorrow night for the first time live on the air.’ So I think I’ll not say hi to her before the show. I want to bring her out and just see her, have that real moment play out.”

Now that Teresa has finished her home confinement, she is promoting her memoir and Season 7 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey in full force. Prior to appearing on Watch What Happens Live, she will appear live on Good Morning America. In her tweets, Teresa dubbed Tuesday “#TeresaTuesday.”

Next Wednesday, Teresa will be doing a release party for her memoir, Turning The Tables: From Housewife To Inmate And Back Again, in New York City.

On Monday, Bravo officially announced that Season 7 of Real Housewives will air later this year. Besides Teresa, the new season will star her sister-in-law Melisa Gorga and her former friend Jacqueline Laurita. Teresa hinted that she has made amends with Melissa and Jacqueline with a tweet stating how excited she is for everyone.

Andy confirmed on his radio show that the new season was already filming when Teresa arrived home from prison and has continued filming since.

“We were shooting when Teresa left Danbury, when she got home, we’ve been shooting for the last few months.”

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, reportedly joining Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga and Jacqueline Laurita in lesser roles on the new season are Kathy Wakile, Rosie Pierri, Siggy Flicker, Robyn Levy (and her wife, Christina Flores), and Dolores Catania.
