The hottest NBA trade rumors going around right now have to do with Blake Griffin and the LA Clippers, and where he may end up. So far, there have been rumors going around that he could end up with one of any of 15 or so teams, but nothing concrete has surfaced yet. Reports are now coming out that the Clippers have indeed spoken with the Denver Nuggets about trying to get a trade complete to ship out Griffin.

According to NJ.com, it really does seem like the relationship between Griffin and the Clippers is fractured to the point where “trade talk” is no longer just a rumor. The talks don’t imply or mean a trade has been set in stone, but it is a step in a different direction with the NBA trade deadline just two weeks away.
The one question right now is who would the Nuggets trade to the Clippers in exchange for Griffin?
If he was going to be traded to the LA Lakers, it’s believed that players like D’Angelo Russell or Julius Randle could be part of the deal. If Griffin was going to be traded to the New York Knicks, it’s thought that a swap for Carmelo Anthony would be in the works.
As for the Denver Nuggets, though? It’s not nearly as clear.
Fansided speculated last week that a Nuggets/Clippers deal could be something that would happen, and they even put together a possible proposition.
In that trade, the Nuggets would get Griffin and forward Luc Richard Mbah A Moute, but the Clippers would get a bit more. Los Angeles, in return, would get guard Will Barton, forward Danilo Gallinari, center Joffrey Lauvergne, and possibly a draft pick.
Sounds like a good trade, in theory, but there is really no telling what the Clippers are asking for Blake Griffin. It could be more, or it could be less.
For Griffin, it would be a complete change of pace from what he is used to. This season the LA Clippers are 32-17 as of Friday afternoon and in prime position for one of the top four playoff spots in the Western Conference.
The Denver Nuggets are 19-31 and currently in the 11th spot in the Western Conference.
There is still talk and speculation that Blake Griffin could end up being traded to another team in the West or even one in the Eastern Conference. There’s been talk of him being shipped out to the Knicks, Boston Celtics, or even the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Then again, Blake Griffin could end up staying exactly where he is and the LA Clippers might not trade him at all. If that’s the case, there are options for the Clippers to make a move with him after the season is over.
After this season is compete, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant will be a free agent and almost every team will be going after him. Yahoo News reported that one rumor had the Clippers making a sign-and-trade deal to get Durant and the Thunder would receive Griffin.
That would be a good trade for both teams, but there will be 15 to 20 other teams going after Kevin Durant. It won’t be easy to pull off.
Blake Griffin may continue with the LA Clippers for the rest of this season, or he could be shipped elsewhere before the NBA trade deadline in two weeks. Right now, rumors are just rumors. Still, the Clippers have spoken with the Denver Nuggets and that’s an advancement that could potentially lead to something.
