Mariah Carey Keeping Engagement News From Her Twins, Says ‘They Don’t Understand Yet’

The 35 carat engagement ring that weighs down the hand of diva Mariah Carey, courtesy of her billionaire fiance James Packer, certainly has meaning to all who have had the opportunity to take in its beauty.

However, her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, whom she shares with Nick Cannon, don’t quite grasp the rock’s significance as of yet.

Mariah spoke openly with E! News about how she intends to share the news of her engagement to Packer with her little ones.

“I haven’t talked to them about it completely because they are so young, so they don’t really understand things yet. So you have to go slowly and explain things and always make sure they know that this is only going to be good for them.”

Mariah and the twins will soon move into a luxury home in L.A. along with Australian billionaire Packer, but Carey insists that things will not change for Moroccan and Monroe.

“[T]heir lives are not going to change.”

Carey also spoke of the importance Nick has to her and her children, noting that they are, and will always, remain close and will each ensure to be a part of the other’s life for the sake of their children.

“For me, as long as we are together and they have a great relationship with their dad, then that’s great. It’s good. And they are great.”

Nick congratulated the happy couple in January once he discovered the two had become engaged. He did so via social media and used the necessary hashtags and humor to note his astonishment at the size of the ring Mariah received. People shared Nick’s post and fitting caption.

“#AllLove Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union… #GreatPeople #GreatCouple,” he captioned the picture of himself passed out in a hospital bed with Kevin Hart telling him, ‘It’s just a ring Nick…..'”

Cannon and Carey are working together to ensure they make the transition for their children as seamless and smooth as possible.

“I think we are trying our best. I really do. I know I am trying my best and I think he is too. I know they love being with him and it’s nice and I will always say positive things about him to the kids.”

Mariah does admit that between her and Nick, their 4-year-old twins are dangerously close to ending up a tad bit spoiled, something the songstress hopes to avoid resulting.

“Between Nick and what he does for them and then what I do for them, I just think please don’t let these kids be spoiled. I have to reel it in.”

As for James Packer’s connection with Mariah’s two little ones, a source relayed that the billionaire, who shares three children with his first wife, Erica Baxter, is a dependable figure for Moroccan and Monroe to have in their lives. The source told People last month that “[i]t’s obvious that [James] cares about Mariah’s kids.”

In addition to her adorable children and her billionaire fiance, Mariah Carey has some other great news and items on the go, including a highly anticipated return to Vegas for her latest residency “#1 to Infinity,” which will be performed at The Colosseum inside Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace. Already coming off a sensational residency last year, Mariah is seasoned, has a solid fan base, and obviously has the talent to put people in the seats. Much like her last residency, this one will surely be just as stunning and successful or more so now that the diva seems to have a permanent smile plastered on her beautiful face.
