‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 4 Spoilers — Dascha Polanco Teases The Return Of ‘HTGAWM’ Star Matt McGorry
With Orange Is the New Black heading into its fourth season, there are still a lot of questions that were left unanswered at the end of Season 3. One of these mysteries surrounds the relationship between Bennett (Matt McGorry) and Daya (Dascha Polanco). With Bennett running away from Daya and his responsibilities as a father last season, is McGorry set to make a return in Season 4?
In an interview with Bustle, Polanco was doubtful that Bennett would make a return to Litchfield, especially considering his actions last season. As fans will recall, Bennett was committed to Daya and their new child together at the start of Season 3. However, his interactions with Daya’s family provided enough motivation for him to drop everything and leave town.
“Bennett coming back? Who knows! When a man leaves you, can we ever tell if they’re coming back or not? We never know.”
At this time, it isn’t know where Bennett went, but his disappearance had huge consequences for Daya’s baby. In fact, following Caesar’s arrest, Daya’s baby was left without a proper guardian. While this is an unfortunate situation for Daya and her baby, it does leave open a door for Bennett’s return, especially if Daya is forced to rely on Bennett to care for her child.
Considering Polanco’s comments, however, it does not seem likely that McGorry will be making an appearance in the new season. Even more, ScreenCrush is reporting that McGorry’s name is not included in list of cast members for the new season. Is this further proof that Bennett will not be back in Season 4?According to Melty, Polanco may have made the comments just to throw fans off the idea that Bennett will be back. After all, the romance between Bennett and Daya is definitely one of the more popular ones on the show. If Bennett never returns, then fans will not likely respond well to his absence.
That being said, if Bennett does return to the show then there is no certainty that Daya would even take him back. After all, Bennett would certainly have a lot of explaining to do, and leaving in the manner that he did will surely have a fair share of consequences.
Meanwhile, apart from the developments on the Bennett front, Netflix has officially announced the release date for the new season of Orange Is the New Black. With Season 4 set to air on June 17, fans will have plenty of time to ponder what lies ahead for the inmates of Litchfield.
The release date news comes on the heels of a brand new trailer for the fourth season. Although the trailer did not reveal too many spoilers about the new season, it is clear that the majority of characters from last season will be returning, along with a new cast member in Fringe’s Blair Brown.
The fourth season of Orange Is the New Black stars Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Uzo Aduba, Kate Mulgrew, Laverne Cox, Natasha Lyonee, Dascha Polanco, Danielle Brooks, Michael Harney, Taryn Manning, Yael Stone, Selenis Leyva, Samira Wiley, Nick Sandow, Lea DeLaria, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Adrienne Moore, and Jackie Cruz.Along with the absence of McGorry, Pablo Schreiber, who plays the role of Pornstache, is not included in the list of cast members. Whether or not Schreiber and McGorry return to the hit prison drama is yet to be seen. Hopefully, more information and spoilers are released in the coming months as Netflix prepares for the release of Orange Is the New Black. Until then, fans can hold out hope that Bennett will make his way back on the show.
