Jodie Sweetin Engaged: ‘Fuller House’ Star Speaks Out About Justin Hodak
Jodie Sweetin has announced on Instagram that she’s engaged to longtime boyfriend Justin Hodak. The Fuller House star took to the social media app to show off her sparkly engagement ring.
Sweetin will reprise her role as Stephanie Tanner on the Netflix reboot of the popular ABC sitcom Full House.
She shared a photo of her engagement ring and glittery black manicure along with the caption, “So…Looks like the cats outta the bag! Haha! I’m so happy and he did a GREAT job with the ring! Good taste @justinhodak_ I love you!!”
A representative for Jodie Sweetin has confirmed to the media on Friday, January 22 that the actress is engaged.
“We can confirm that Jodie Sweetin got engaged to Justin Hodak last night and they are both thrilled.”
Last week was already an exciting week for Sweetin, who celebrated her 34th birthday with her family, friends, and Fuller House cast. She’s been sharing collages of family photos from her birthday dinner earlier last week. Her Fuller House co-stars Andrea Barber, Candace Cameron Bure, and Lori Loughlin gave their tributes to the actress on Instagram.
Jodie Sweetin also shared her exciting news with People. The former child star has been married three times before but revealed that she has known Hodak for a while. It took some time for Sweetin and Hodak to reconnect over the years and fall in love with each other.
“We met through mutual friends years ago and we reconnected a little over two years ago. It’s been really good ever since.”
Hodak has been super supportive of Sweetin’s role in her upcoming series. He even attended a taping of her show and other red carpet events over the past few months.
“He’s super excited and he watched Full House growing up. It was something kids our age watched and he really loves it. He thinks it’s going to be a really great show and that families are really going to be entertained by it. And, of course, he’s proud.”
This will be Sweetin’s fourth marriage, as previously noted. She married musician Morty Coyle, with whom she has a daughter Beatrix. The couple split in 2013 after marrying in 2012. Sweetin was previously married to Cody Herpin with whom she has a daughter Zoie, and Shaun Holguin.
Radar Online has previously reported that Jodie Sweetin and Morty Coyle have battled in court over the location of their daughter Beatrix’s schooling. According to California Superior Court documents obtained by the celebrity gossip outlet, Sweetin fought for her 5-year-old to attend a Los Angeles elementary school with her half-sister, Zoie, 7. But Coyle wanted Beatrix to attend a different school in another town. Sweetin won the court battle, as a judge has granted her wish, ordering “Petitioner Mother shall have tie-breaking authority on school issue” through June 2018 after which “it will revert back to joint legal custody on the issue.”
“Joint legal custody on all other issues remain in full force and effect,” the judge wrote on the July 29, 2015, ruling.
Jodie Sweetin has also struggled with drug addiction for years. Now she’s been sober since 2011 and has been happier than ever. She credits her daughters for keeping her clean and healthy. Earlier this month, Sweetin opened up to People about her sobriety. She’s also sharing her story as a guest speaker at colleges.
“I speak about my experience growing up in the entertainment business, what my life was like after, some of the struggles and things I went through, and where my life is today. It’s a story with a message of second chances and turning things around and being able to overcome some adversity.”
Fuller House will air on Netflix in February.
