Andie MacDowell Defends Her Rant Against American Airlines

After complaining about the way American Airlines treated her, Andie MacDowell is taking to Twitter to complain about being bumped from first class, after paying for the seat. McDowell said that American Airlines employees treated her in a rude manner, all because she brought her dog along. MacDowell said that she paid for first class and her dog in advance, and that she will never fly American Airlines again.

According to the Inquisitr, American Airlines has gotten a good deal of press lately, and it’s not good. Greg Hardy of the Dallas Cowboys was convicted of brutally beating his significant other. Even with this information, American Airlines decided to stick with the Cowboys as one of their main sponsors. Fans believe this is a bad choice, for the Dallas Cowboys and American Airlines, and are willing to vote with their wallets, and fly an airline other than American.

CBC is reporting that Andie MacDowell is defending her complaints against American Airlines. McDowell took to Twitter to complain that even though she paid for first class, and for her dog to fly, she got bumped into coach.

“Paid for first class & they put me in tourist because of my dog that I pre-booked & paid for.”

But instead of sympathy, MacDowell was met with hate for her #richpeopleproblems.

“What a harrowing experience that you had to sit with commoners.”

But MacDowell said she’d be happy in coach or on a bus, but just thinks you should get what you pay for.

“Just hate that I paid for what I didn’t get,” she wrote in response to a message on Twitter. “Lessons learned, never complain on Twitter.”

MacDowell said she won’t be flying first class on American Airlines ever again.

New York Daily News says that MacDowell wasn’t trying to elicit sympathy because she had to fly coach, but because she thought if you pay for first class, you should sit where you made your reservation, plain and simple. And when American Airlines was told of the problems, they were simply rude.

“There was no excuse why the guy would not just let me ask someone to change seats he had a power trip,” MacDowell said. “He said take the seat or don’t get on my plane I was there early to ask for help and from the moment I met him he was rude.”

But MacDowell was very happy with her peeps in coach, and snapped some selfies with her new friends.

“Actually had great company but I paid for something I didn’t get,” she replied to one critic. “I’m sorry if it sounded that way I’m happy taking a bus and preferred dirt roads it’s the principle,” she told another.

But MacDowell had to learn the hard way that American is not the right airline for her. Days earlier, they messed up her reservation too.

“You lost $1300 first class flyer I’m taking Delta because you couldn’t give me a fee in economy & then first, seriously?” she tweeted at the company last Saturday.

The Washington Post said the whole problem seemed to be between American Airlines and MacDowell’s Chihuahua Ava. MacDowell was bumped because she travels with Ava, who wears cute American flag sweaters, but many on Twitter took offense to MacDowell calling coach “tourist class.”

“‘Tourist Class’ is the most wonderfully snobby thing I’ve ever heard,” a critic wrote.

But MacDowell also had her supporters.

“What’s your beef with Andie McDowell [sic]?” one wrote. “She paid for something she didn’t get & like you or I, she is entitled to a refund.” Another wrote: “Everyone should leave AndieMcDowell alone AmericanAir should be embarrassed 4 their usual crap service. Haters should hate on real issues.”

Do you think American Airlines should give MacDowell her refund, so she can donate it to charity?
