Justin Bieber Set To Perform At The 2016 Grammys: Four Crucial Questions

This is huge. Justin Bieber has been added to the lineup of performers at the 2016 Grammys.

The 21-year-old Prince of pop is also a Grammy nominee alongside EDM superduo, Jack U’s Diplo and Skrillex, in the Best Dance Recording category for their powerhouse collaboration “Where Are Ü Now?

On Sunday, January 24, The Grammys’ official Twitter account announced news of the Biebs’ upcoming performance with a pic of the heartthrob and a note rallying fans. The reveal was also posted at The Grammys’ Instagram account.

Last Saturday, Grammys organizers hinted at something involving the superstar when four Justin Bieber fans were tweeted GIF’s of different part of the art crowd-sourced “Where Are Ü Now?” music video.

Fast forward to Sunday, the Justin Bieber Twitter account tweeted, “See everyone at @TheGRAMMYs. Honored.”

The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will air on CBS on Monday, February 15, live from the famed Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and will be hosted by LL Cool J. Other performers include Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, The Weeknd, Adele, and Pitbull, the latter also revealed on Sunday. More acts will be unveiled over the coming weeks.

Lamar leads the nominees at this year’s 58th annual ceremony with 11 nods, while Taylor Swift and The Weeknd took second second place with seven nominations each.

All of the above, and the roll call of nominees, are what we do know. But, how about what we don’t know? Speculating is the fun part. So, here are four crucial questions to consider before the Biebs’ hits the stage at the 2016 Grammys.

1: Will this be Justin’s year to win a Grammy?

After the travesties of being passed over in 2011 for Best Pop Vocal Album (My world 2.0) and Best New Artist, and the more understandable omission in 2013 for Believe, will this year’s Grammys be Bieber’s “Leonardo DiCaprio” expected-getting-an-Oscar moment?

Plenty of critics seem to think the game changing, gorgeous EDM anthem “Where Are Ü Now?” is by far the strongest contender in the Best Dance Recording field, which includes Above & Beyond with Zoë Johnston, The Chemical Brothers, Flying Lotus featuring Kendrick Lamar, and Galantis.

Bieber, Skrillex, and Diplo’s out-of-the-box musical trinity captured the public’s imagination, as it went on to become the song of 2015, generating nearly 400 million streams on Spotify, garnering an American Music Award, and ushered in the new music sound and acceptance of Bieber ahead of him unleashing the juggernaut that is Purpose.

If there is a time for Bieber to finally win a Grammy, this is that year.

2: What will Bieber perform at the Grammys?

With so many hits from Purpose and a fair few hits in his back catalog, it’s anyone’s guess what he’ll throw down on stage.

Perhaps the Canadian will unveil a medley of “Sorry,” “Love Yourself,” and “What Do You Mean?” before Diplo and Skrillex join him on stage for a possibly triumphant rendition of “Where Are Ü Now?

Or maybe he’ll opt for a one song, not-a-dry-eye-in-the-house delivery of “Love Yourself,” which is still topping charts around the world.

3: What will Bieber wear to the Grammys?

It’s the biggest music industry event of the year. It is likely the Biebs will rise to the occasion and won’t rock up in a hoodie, baseball hat, and sweats. The singer didn’t top most stylish celebrity end-of-year lists in December for nothing.

A sartorial clue arrived on Sunday night via a surprise tweet from Bieber’s longtime stylist, Karla Welch. Amid fevered online musing among Justin Bieber fans she teased, “I’m feeling suits.”

Whether the Biebs rocks a suit on the red carpet and the stage remains to be seen. But, one thing is certain, Kidrauhl in a suit never gets old.

4: Who will the singer take to the Grammys?

In years past, Justin’s mother, Pattie Mallette, accompanied her son to awards shows. However, he is now thought to be dating longtime pal, Hailey Baldwin.

Will the gorgeous blonde model be Bieber’s date at the Grammys? We’ll have to wait and see.

Roll on February 15.
