Demi Lovato Slams Donald Trump: U.S. Will Be ‘Laughing Stock Of The World’ If Elected
Demi Lovato appears to be going on a pretty serious Instagram rant against Donald Trump and his supporters.
Twitter user @MusicsRebellion took to the social media site on January 23 to post a number of comments Lovato allegedly posted to Instagram earlier this week, where she claimed that the U.S. would be “the laughing stock of the world if Trump won” the upcoming 2016 election.
According to the comment screen shots, the political drama allegedly started when Instagram user @real_and_raw supposedly wrote on the photo sharing site, “I think if we support people like Demi supporting people like Hilary we no better [sic].”
The user then added the hashtag “#unfollowDemiLovato” and even called Lovato a “bad role model” in the Instagram comment.
Never one to shy away from the drama, Demi then allegedly replied to the comment “bye b***” before writing in a separate comment “Half of y’all are 13 and just repeating whatever your parents say.”
According to Perez Hilton, Lovato then took serious aim at Donald Trump when replying to the user @atownsend99 in the Instagram comments section, where according to the screen shot, she wrote that “our country would be the laughing stock of the WORLD if Trump won.”
While Lovato has neither officially confirmed, nor denied, that she made the social media remarks, she has made it pretty clear in recent months who she’s backing in the coming election.
Though it’s not clear exactly where the political conversation supposedly happened on the photo sharing site, it’s thought that the politically charged comments were posted below a photo that Demi Lovato posted of herself and Hillary Clinton on her Instagram page on January 22.
“I couldn’t have been more excited to support such a courageous, loving and #CONFIDENT woman in Iowa last night,” Demi Lovato captioned the snap of herself and Clinton in Iowa. “Thank you @hillaryclinton for having me.. It was an honor to share the stage with you in your campaign to become the FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!! You have my vote!!!,” Lovato said.
“Btw her being a woman is just a bonus.. Not the reasoning behind my decision,” Demi then clarified alongside the sweet photo of the two campaigning together on a university campus.
Lovato and Clinton appear to have struck up quite a friendship during Hillary’s recent campaign trail, and according to Billboard, the two drew a pretty sizable crowd of young female voters when they appeared together at the University of Iowa on January 21.
According to the site, Demi performed her most recent hit “Confident” at the political event, after which she told the crowd of Clinton supporters, “I don’t think there’s a woman more confident than Hillary Clinton.” Demi Lovato also confessed at the Thursday night event that she’ll be voting for Clinton this coming November because of “her beliefs, her strength and the fact that she completely embodies the concept of women empowerment.”
Clinton then returned the compliments to Demi, telling the audience that she found the “Give Your Heart A Break” singer to be “an extraordinary example for so many in the way that you have talked about issues that people find sometimes hard to talk about.”
“You’ve given hope and positive reinforcement to so many,” Clinton continued, in regards to Demi Lovato at the Iowa event according to Billboard, adding, “I’m thrilled you’re here, lending your voice and your example to our efforts to get people to get out and caucus.”
