Danny Trejo Talks About Trejo’s Tacos, Says They Serve ‘Most Delicious Tacos Known To Man’

Danny Trejo has played countless anti-hero characters in both film and television. He has appeared in movies, such as Con Air and Desperado, and in television shows, including Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy. Now, 71-year-old Trejo is no longer beating good guys onscreen. Instead, he is busy with Trejo’s Tacos, a restaurant in L.A. that he co-owns.

As of writing, Trejo’s Tacos is not yet open, but Danny says that they will have a soft opening next week. He did post a tease about the taco restaurant in June 2015. The new taco place is Danny’s joint venture with film producers Jeff Georgino and Ash Shah, as the Los Angeles Times reports.

Danny teases that the restaurant will serve “the most delicious tacos known to man,” as he said to ABC 7. What made Trejo go into the restaurant business? His mom.

“This was a dream of my mom’s really… we kind of just put it together.”

Although Trejo’s Tacos is not yet open, Patricia Lopez of KABC was able to have a few bites of the what the taco joint will offer.

“We have 10 different tacos. It’s just stuff that everybody likes,” the actor explained.

The menu was created by Daniel Mattern, and Danny Trejo says that everyone can eat their tacos, including those who are into vegan and gluten-free diets.

“Here, we wanted to include everybody, so we have great vegan menu and gluten-free menu.”

What can be expected from Trejo’s Tacos? Some of the taco ingredients include kale, quinoa, mung beans, tofu, and organic rice. Trejo assures everyone that each and every taco they will be serving is going to be great.

“You have to understand — you can throw a dart at our menu and get a great taco.”

And what goes best with your favorite tacos? Beer, of course. Danny says that his own cerveza (beer), which is brewed in the Arts District, will be on tap. In addition, they will also be serving their very own kombucha and horchata on tap. For those who are not into alcoholic drinks, Trejo’s South American coffee is available. Danny and his team are also currently working on ice cream sandwiches for patrons to enjoy after eating their delicious tacos.

Danny Trejo also assures visitors that all the food they serve is fresh, as Trejo’s Tacos donates leftover food for the day to a homeless shelter in the area, CBS Local reports. This means nothing goes to waste and “nothing is kept overnight,” Danny said.

Those who are interested in trying Danny Trejo’s tacos can visit the restaurant at 1048 La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles. The restaurant is hard to miss, as the logo features Danny Trejo’s face.

This is just the start of Danny Trejo’s restaurant business. According to the Los Angeles Times, there is already a plan to open another branch of Trejo’s Tacos near the corner of Selma Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood.
