Gwyneth Paltrow Designs Plain White T-Shirt, Charges $90

Has Gwyneth Paltrow created the perfect t-shirt? Probably not, but she has designed one that she believes is worthy of a $90 price tag. Unfortunately, it looks pretty similar to a plain white t-shirt.

The shirt, called “the goop Tee,” was designed in conjunction with the Kain Label. It is inspired by tuxedo shirts and is an “essential wardrobe staple.”

Palrow writes on her site Goop.com:

“We’ve collaborated with Kain Label, creators of the perfect tee, to create a version exclusive to goop. Inspired by tuxedo tailoring, we added grosgrain piping to the shoulders and sides, and shortened the length, modernizing this essential wardrobe staple.”

Paltrow started Goop.com back in 2008 so that she could share all of the knowledge that has gained over the years. Goop offers people everything from hangover cures to recipes to fashion advice.

The About Page describes the site saying:

“Gwyneth started goop in the fall of 2008 to share all of life’s positives. From creating a delicious recipe to finding a perfect dress for spring, Gwyneth began curating the best of lifestyle to help her readers save time, simplify and feel inspired. Determined to publish a genuine and resourceful issue each week, for many, goop has become their most trusted girlfriend on the web.”

Would you trust a girlfriend who encouraged you to buy a $90 plain white t-shirt?

In defense of Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop’s new shirt, the Goop Tee is made of 100% modal (grosgrain cording is 100% acrylic) and isn’t just a cotton t-shirt. Still, would you pay $90 for the Goop Tee?
