Powerball frenzy is at an all-time high and the latest memes to take over the internet feature none other than Steve Harvey. As the Powerball countdown begins and a winner will soon be announced, social media networks have seen an influx in Steve Harvey memes. The latest memes are attributed to Steve Harvey’s recent flub when announcing the Miss Universe winner. Harvey announced the wrong name and the internet has gone wild saying that Steve Harvey should be the person to host the Powerball live drawing and read the name of the jackpot winner, should there be one. As the Powerball jackpot is at a record-breaking high of $900 million, there is no question that a person mistakenly declared the Powerball winner would be extremely devastated.

During the live Miss Universe television broadcast, Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as Miss Universe, when the true winner was Miss Universe Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. Though the shock of naming the wrong winner spread rapidly across social media networks, Steve Harvey apologized for the mishap and Miss Universe accepted his apology, according to a report by People magazine.

“I thought he was such a gentleman to do that. I think it takes a lot for you to admit you made a mistake and correct it right away, especially on live television. And I understand that it’s live television – you can make mistakes. It’s human, it’s okay.”

It’s doubtful that if the wrong Powerball winner was named, they would be as open to forgiveness as the gracious Miss Universe contestants have been.
