Megyn Kelly blasted Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney as well as the Obama administration for their politically correct response or non-response to the shooting of Officer Jesse Hartnett in an apparent terrorist attack.
A suspect who is now in custody shot Hartnett at least 13 times at point-blank range Thursday night while the officer was sitting in his police cruiser.
Hartnett, 33, and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, is in stable condition in the hospital with bullet wounds to his left arm and will have to undergo numerous surgical procedures. Despite his injuries, Hartnett engaged in a foot pursuit of the suspect, and wounded him once with his police revolver before other cops responding to the scene apprehended the assailant.

The suspected gunman, identified by multiple media outlets as Edward Archer, allegedly used a 9mm Glock in the alleged police execution attempt, a weapon stolen from an officer about two years ago. The gun was recovered at the scene.
According to police officials, the suspect declared that “I follow Allah. I pledge my allegiance to the Islamic State, and that’s why I did what I did,” the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
The suspect’s mother described him as a devout Muslim according to the Philadelphia Tribune.
Authorities today formally charged Archer with attempted murder, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, and other crimes. He is due back in court on January 25.

The FBI has launched an investigation into why the suspect visited Saudi Arabia and Egypt in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
In discussing what appears to be a domestic terrorist incident with various guests on FNC’s high-rated The Kelly File last night, Megyn Kelly seemed incensed that the city’s mayor claimed the ambush of the officer had nothing to do with radical Islam.
A Democrat and a former city councilor, Kenney was elected as Philadelphia’s chief executive in November 2015.
“This guy was very quick to say ‘nobody believes that this has anything to do with islam.’ Guess what Mr. Mayor; you’re not right. You’re wrong,” Kelly asserted (see video below).
Later in the same broadcast, Megyn Kelly drew a sharp distinction between how the “straight shooting” police chief described the attack and what the politically correct mayor had to say in the same press conference.
“[Politicians are] so focused on protecting Islam and its reputation. Any reasonable thinking person understands there’s a difference between these radicals who do do this in the name of their version of Islam and the peace-loving Muslims who populate the earth. In this particular case, it is so egregious because the perpetrator came out – and right after the police commissioner said ‘he had confessed to committing this cowardly act in the name of Islam’…within a breath, the mayor says ‘it had nothing to do with Islam’…one guy is a straight shooter and the other guy is worried about being politically correct.”
Kelly also slammed the White House for responding with “no comment” (as of last night) about Officer Hartnett’s shooting.
“Now it’s late in the evening, and the White House has yet to issue any statement on the attempted murder of a police officer by a man who pledged his allegiance to ISIS…Last time around, in San Bernardino, we got a lecture from the president about how we should not engage in a backlash against Muslims, which he put right on the same footing as ‘we just had the worst terror attack domestically since 9/11,’ and here we are — another domestic terror attack, and there is nothing — nothing has been said by the White House.”
Do you agree or disagree with Megyn Kelly that political correctness was in play in the way some elected officials reacted to the attack on Philadelphia police officer Jesse Hartnett?
