Gwen Stefani On Beauty And Why Children And Red Lipstick Don’t Mix

Amid all of the Blake Shelton romance talk and the Miranda Lambert feud rumors, Gwen Stefani is working away like the superstar she is by expanding her empire to the makeup world. The songstress and fashionista, not to mention TV personality on the hit show The Voice, has teamed up with one of the hottest makeup brands in the biz, Urban Decay.

The 46-year-old recently spoke with Allure magazine on the launch of her line with the makeup brand and discussed her inspiration behind the palettes. The Telegraph relays Gwen’s words.

“I went through all my make-up and was like, OK, what are my must-haves? Not, like, fashion-shoot-type stuff, but just what I’m legitimately wearing every day. There’s not one colour in the collection that isn’t true to who I am.”

Stefani clearly selected names for her line that are directly related to her music, including “Ex-Girlfriend,” and “Rock Steady,” which are also names of hit albums by she and her No Doubt band members. The Telegraph expands about all the Gwen Stefani line will offer to fans of the Urban Decay brand.

“The Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani range will include a selection of lipsticks, lip liners, an eyebrow palette and a simply gorgeous blush palette. The range, obviously, includes some very vibrant reds, but is as wearable as the palette was – something which surprised us when we saw that too (although we’re still not sure how to work the blue pan.) The lipsticks are all given Gwennishly relevant names.”

Stefani, who recently split from her husband Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage, was candid about how her bold red-lipped look around her three adorable children can sometimes result in a mess of a circumstance. Gwen opened up about the outcomes she’s experienced because of her signature look.

“Having kids is hilarious. I’ll just be standing there, and then I’ll be swiped across the mouth and there will be red lipstick everywhere. The way you talk, the way you eat, everything you have learned to do, you learn to do it a way so you don’t mess up the lipstick.”

Stefani is known for her striking and stunning look that involves a heavy application of various forms of makeup. Many celebrities pride themselves on staying away from loads of makeup and prefer the natural look. Yet, Gwen is proud to say she is content doing the opposite and shares that she really just doesn’t feel right when her face is void of her usual base and details, courtesy of her makeup application routine.

“When I don’t wear it, I just don’t feel right. People think I’m insane, but I feel like it’s a part of who I am that day and who I want to be. I wear it every day, no matter what.”

It’s only natural that a celebrity such as Gwen Stefani would join forces with a brand that is exploding in popularity. The former makeup artist certainly knows all about the industry almost as well as she knows the music industry.

Recently, the star has been making headlines for her adorable romance with The Voice co-judge Blake Shelton and the bond between the two is clearly strong. As Hollywood Life shares, Shelton recently tweeted in support of his girlfriend’s latest efforts in studio, while Gwen was getting down to finishing up her soon-to-release album.

Fans have been anticipating the day Gwen’s latest album drops and can apparently expect one killer compilation, as the singer drew on her experience while going through her divorce to find inspiration and meaningful lyrics.
