‘Teen Wolf’ Spoilers: Crystal Reed Is Returning, But Allison Isn’t, Plus A Look Ahead At Season 5B [Video]

If you’re still mourning the death of Allison Argent from the third season of Teen Wolf, and have been wishing to see the MTV series bring her back, well, this may not be the good news you’ve been hoping for. However, if you’ve just wanted to see Crystal Reed on the show again, you can celebrate.

Buzzfeed News has reported that Reed will be back – but, for now, it’s only for one episode, airing on February 23. The episode is titled, “The Maid of Gévaudan” and Reed will be back, but not as Allison Argent. Instead, she’s playing “the progenitor of the Argent family line, Marie-Jeanne Valet” in flashbacks. These flashbacks are going to directly tie into what’s going on in the present for the pack. Marie-Jeanne dealt with the same Beast – the Beast of Gévaudan – that they want to stop in 1765, and Gerard Argent, played by Michael Hogan, who also returns in Teen Wolf season 5B, is going to tell them what happened in that time period to see if it can help them now.

So who was Marie-Jeanne Valet?

“She was a peasant girl who had fashioned a bayonet onto a spear and was supposedly one of the first to survive an attack by the beast,” executive producer Jeff Davis has revealed. “Valet is another female warrior. … We also get to see her wielding a crossbow again.”

Buzzfeed News also posted several promotional photos of Crystal Reed’s return to Teen Wolf as Marie-Jeanne Valet, including the one the actress shared on Twitter when introducing fans to “Marie-Jeanne.”

These photos (including a behind-the-scenes shot) show a bloody Marie-Jeanne running through the snow, armed with a bow and arrows, and while it may not be a return of Allison, Reed has shared that fans may recognize some thing that she does as the new character.

“There are little things I got to do with the character that Allison might have done – a little look or a gesture or the way she walks; I sort of made sure they were a little bit the same because they’re family after all. She shares that basic, intrinsic quality Allison had that was just pure kindness. She’s fighting for justice and for what’s right, and that’s something I think they have in common that people will love. It’s the hero and the bravery that gets us at the end of the day.”

While Reed has been honest about not wanting to come back as Allison because of how her character died, she isn’t against returning to the show like this or even in a spin-off.

“There have been some little chats about that,” she shared when it comes to exploring the Argent’s family history in a spin-off.

Reed’s return isn’t the only thing coming up as Teen Wolf season 5B, which kicked off with the premiere this week, continues. MTV has released a video previewing what’s ahead, and things are just going to get crazier and crazier – and considering the premiere ended with Parrish’s hellhound side raging in Eichen House, that’s saying something. Yes, there’s going to be romance (and hook-ups), but it wouldn’t be Teen Wolf without blood, violence and pain as well. What’s going to happen with Parrish and his, as Gerard calls it, “alter ego”? Will Stiles save Lydia? What’s going on with the Beast? And how right is Coach going to be that he should’ve stayed in rehab? (Yes, lacrosse is back.)

As seen in that promo, Gerard is back, and Tyler Posey told TVLine that he’s “the same old Gerard, with tricks up his sleeve and everything,” while another returning character, Deucalion, who has also been seen in previews for the season, “is a little different” and “his storyline mostly involves Theo.”

Teen Wolf season 5B airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on MTV.
