Lamar Odom Health Update: NBA Star To Leave Hospital Soon, Son Shares First Photo

Lamar Odom is nearing the end of his hospital stay. Nearly three months in, sources claim the former NBA star will soon be moved from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, California, to a rehabilitation center in nearby Calabasas, where his wife, Khloe Kardashian, resides.

On October 13, Lamar Odom was found unconscious at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, where he had been partying at the legal brothel with a number of the facility’s women. Right away, 911 was called, and Lamar Odom was taken to a nearby hospital. Within hours of his arrival, as Lamar Odom remained in a coma, Kardashian arrived to the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas with her mother, Kris Jenner, and her sister, Kim Kardashian. Also arriving a short time later was Lamar Odom’s son, Lamar Odom Jr., his daughter, Destiny Odom, his ex-girlfriend, Liza Morales, and his aunt.

After Lamar Odom woke up from his coma and began communicating with his wife and his doctors, he was transferred to West Hollywood and has been there ever since. Meanwhile, his wife and her family, including Jenner, Kardashian, and even Kanye West, have visited Lamar Odom as he recovers from what has been reported as a drug overdose.

While Lamar Odom’s two children live in New York with their mother, leaving them unable to visit him regularly, they were able to make their way to Los Angeles shortly after Christmas due to their winter break from their studies, and during their visit, Lamar Odom Jr. shared the photo below on his Instagram page.

On January 4, the Christian Post offered the latest health update on Lamar Odom, revealing that recent ports have claimed he is taking steps on his own.

Still, claimed the site, “even at this point when [Lamar Odom] seemed to have defied the odds, both his close friends and family are still very much concerned that the reality TV star will no longer live a normal life. It’s a valid concern knowing the fact that he almost died and had to endure multiple surgeries to repair what’s broken, including his brain.”

After Lamar Odom was hospitalized, it was revealed that many of his organs had begun failing, but luckily for the athlete, they regained their function once he came out of his coma. As for his possible brain damage, that has yet to be determined. However, in November, Radar Online alleged he may be suffering from extensive brain damage.

“[Lamar Odom]’s still having a lot of trouble speaking,” an insider told the site of Lamar Odom’s then-current situation. “[Lamar Odom] really only ever mumbles, and can barely string a few words together. It’s obvious he has extensive brain damage.”

Weeks later, amid rumors regarding Lamar Odom’s alleged positive progress, a second Radar Online source claimed he wasn’t doing as well as the reports claimed.

“[Lamar Odom] has made great improvements after the overdose, but he is not walking and unfortunately there is no Christmas miracle for his condition,” the source said. “He’s still in pretty bad shape.”

According to the report, Lamar Odom’s team believed the Kardashian family was lying to press so that when Kardashian drew back her support, she wouldn’t receive much backlash. The source also slammed Kardashian for not allowing Lamar Odom to live with her after he leaves the hospital.
