Kim Richards’ cancer-stricken ex-husband, Monty Brinson, was hospitalized earlier this week and will remain under medical care for the upcoming holidays. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who will be seen only in a guest-starring role during Season 6, was reportedly in production on her new Lifetime counseling series when she received the horrific news of her ex’s “life or death” situation.

“[Kim Richards] was contacted by her family and told that her ex-husband Monty Brinson was rushed to the hospital,” a show source told Radar Online on December 23. “She obviously got really upset because he has been battling cancer and she was very worried about his condition. [Kim Richards] demanded that she be allowed to use the phone to call him, even though they had been told they wouldn’t be allowed access to anyone who is not filming.”
As fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills have seen, Kim Richards has been in close contact with Brinson for the last several years, despite their divorce decades ago, and has lived with him in recent months. At one point, Kim Richards and Brinson were living together in the guest house of Kathy and Rick Hilton, which led to plenty or rumors regarding the couple’s possible reconciliation. However, it remains unclear whether or not their relationship is more than friendly.
Prior to Radar Online’s report, Kim Richards’ ex-husband revealed his health crisis to fans on Instagram.
“I’m in the hospital,” Brinson wrote to his fans and followers. “First of all the fight with lung cancer I’m beating that fight. The set backs concern life or death. Another battle I’m fighting I’m not a quitter and no matter what you go through don’t be a quitter.”
“A minster Walked into my room out of nowhere. Asked me if I would like to talk about Life and Death, I said no, cause I’m not scared of death I choose life lll just dig down inside and get all my energy and fight back at this setback.”
Kim Richards signed on to appear on a Lifetime counseling reality show with her daughter, Kimberly Jackson, a while back. Although not much is known about the series, People Magazine claimed on December 18 that the upcoming Kim Richards project was “promising” and currently in production .
Earlier this year, Kim Richards, a longtime addict, faced a series of alcohol relapses, one of which landed her behind bars. In April 2015, Kim Richards began drinking at her daughter Brooke Brinson’s home and traveled to the Beverly Hills Hotel, where she indulged in even more alcohol. She then refused to leave the Polo Lounge when asked, resulting in the police being called. When all was said and done, Kim Richards received a number of charges, including public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer, and battery on an officer. But sadly, her troubles were far from over.
After spending a short time in rehab, Kim Richards traveled to Mexico for Brooke’s wedding to Thayer Wiederhorn, and while there, she was believed to have relapsed yet again, leading to at least one more trip to rehab before her second arrest in August at a Target store in Van Nuys. At the retail shop, Kim Richards was accused of stealing over $600 worth of items.

Kim Richards will return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills later this season on Bravo.
