‘The Flash’ Midseason Finale — The Return Of ‘Star Wars’ Star Mark Hamill, Will This Be The End For Barry And Patty?

Following the epic crossover event with Arrow, The Flash is getting ready to head into its mid-season finale. With that in mind, Carter Matt is reporting that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his team will be taking down three bad guys in an action-packed fall finale. Along with the challenge of facing three villains, what else is in store for Barry and his crew in the coming installment?

Fans will undoubtedly be excited to learn that three past villains are set to be featured during the finale. These bad guys include the likes of Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre), and the Trickster (Mark Hamill).

While all three villains have been included in past episodes, the new installment will feature them teaming up for a major operation. According to Christian Today, their evil plans will go down during a well-attended Christmas celebration.

Although it is not known just how Team Flash will take down these three bad guys and prevent their heist from being successful, it is likely that Captain Cold may end up siding with the good guys before it is all said and done. This idea lines up the developments Captain Cold has gone through over the past season, and the fact that the character will be joining Legends of Tomorrow as a hero.

As far as Hamill’s character is concerned, the Star Wars star is not likely to be joining the good guys anytime soon. The same could be said of Weather Wizard, and the fact that the two are joining forces is certainly going to make things difficult for Barry and his team.

Meanwhile, along with tackling the likes of three villains in the highly anticipate mid-season finale, Barry might see his relationship with Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) encounter some tough challenges. With that in mind, are Barry and Patty set to split up in the new episode of The Flash?

In a surprising development, the issue between the two may center on the notion that Patty will soon discover Barry’s secret identity. With Patty being the sole person close to Barry that does not know he is a superhero, will her discovery drive them apart?

In a recent interview with TV Line, Gustin admitted that his character’s relationship with Patty was set to get a little more complicated as the season progresses. While he did not state whether or not this has to do with his secret identity, he did explain that things would be “getting a little harder” for the couple.

“Things are shifting with their relationship,” Gustin stated in the interview.

At the same time, Gustin went on to reveal that his character would also be showcasing a new talent in the finale.

“Barry does another thing with his powers that he, in the moment, discovers and that he’s never done before. It’s kind of goofy in a way where it’s very comic book-y. It’s cool,” he said.

Elsewhere, the finale is also set to feature Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) sharing more time together as their relationship continues to grow. While the two have been seeing each other in private for the past few episodes, the coming finale is set to make things official.

Will Barry and Patty’s relationship reach a breaking point in the upcoming episode? And will Team Flash be able to handle three villains in time to save the city? Fans will have to tune in to discover the answer to these questions and more when the fall finale of The Flash, titled “Running to Stand Still,” airs December 8 on The CW.
