WWE Rumors: Details Of Dewey Foley’s Job With WWE

The latest WWE rumors reveal details about the creative department job that Dewey Foley has just been hired to do, according to Wrestling Inc.

Details of Dewey Foley’s job with WWE

As many of you already know by now, Dewey Foley has been hired by WWE for a position within the creative department. It caused a little bit of controversy within the internet wrestling community since some felt that he was handed a plush job because his father is Mick Foley. That caused the elder Foley to address the issue on social media by defending his son. Mick revealed that Dewey was actually hired three months ago and is only starting in January because he had commitment to school.

Upon starting the job, Dewey will be an assistant to the creative writers that work under Vince McMahon, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. It is not a full time position. The belief is that Foley is going to continue his education while getting his feet wet in WWE. There are also rumors floating around that Dewey is only going to be working until Wrestlemania because this position is just a trial run. Foley will be working mostly from home and will not be given a whole lot of power, as he will start by going over the script with the wrestlers.

Mick Foley critical of WWE

All eyes are going to be on Mick Foley now that Dewey has been hired by WWE. The former world heavyweight champion has been highly critical of the stories produced by the promotion. Mick even went far enough to threaten through social media that he was this close to no longer being a fan of World Wrestling Entertainment. Since fans have already thrown a fit about nepotism, they are now going to pay close attention to Foley to see if he becomes a lot less objective with his son working in the creative department.

Those that have listened to his words closely over the years know that Foley has a reputation for being a straight shooter. He was very honest in his New York Times best-selling books, and Mick has also shown the type of person that he is when he does interviews. The most likely scenario here is that Foley is going to continue to be objective when discussing WWE. Even if Dewey is on the roster, he will still lament the fact that performers like Antonio Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks are not being featured better.

WWE rumors suggest that Mick Foley will still push for divas like Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks to be given more of a chance to shine on Monday Night Raw, even though his son is now working for the creative department. [ Photo by WWE ]
Fans overrating Dewey Foley

The internet wrestling community has a tendency to make assumptions about things that go on backstage in WWE because they do not understand how the company works. In the past, fans have either given way too much credit or way too much blame on a particular individual in the creative department, failing to understand that Vince McMahon still has the final say in just about everything that the company does. Two good examples of this were when Freddie Prinze Jr. and Vince Russo were writing for World Wrestling Entertainment.

Inevitably, the same thing is going to happen to Dewey Foley since fans will assume that he has much more power than he really does. The fact that he is working from home means that he will not be in the meetings with Vince McMahon and Triple H. If he does get to provide feedback, it will more than likely be through text messages, emails or phone calls. Dewey may make some story line suggestions or character tweaks but don’t expect him to be fully in charge of a feud anytime soon.

Do you think that Dewey Foley can get the job full time with WWE?
