Paige Yore: Woman Shares Heartbreaking Walmart Shopping Experience, Life Lesson Learned Goes Viral [Video]

A Colorado woman named Paige Yore has shared a heartbreaking Facebook post with a meaningful life lesson many people probably overlook regularly. A typical trip to Walmart came with an unforgettable experience that she felt compelled to share with the world. Now, her captivating post has gone viral.

According to KFOR, Paige Yore visited a Walmart on Friday, December 4. The trip was like any other, which included browsing and shopping for items she needed, but when she arrived at the register, the Walmart trip took an interesting turn. Apparently, the young male cashier was having an extremely difficult day. She recalled his inability to ring up items and remember item codes. She also recalled him taking deep breaths to calm himself repeatedly. From the looks of his body language, Paige immediately speculated something was terribly wrong. Unfortunately for him, the female customer ahead of Paige wasn’t exactly sympathetic.

Here’s Paige Yore’s Facebook video.

In fact, she reportedly may have made things worse for the struggling cashier. In the Facebook video, Paige Yore also recalled the irate female customer hurling numerous insults at the young cashier. In an effort to expedite the awkward transaction between the cashier and the customer, Paige offered to help the customer put her bagged items into the basket. But things got a bit worse before the customer could leave. Apparently, the customer’s credit card declined. Paige revealed the customer took her frustrations out on the cashier.

“You suck at customer service! I don’t know why you ever, I don’t know how you ever got hired here,” Paige recalled the rude customer saying. “Then she really lays into this kid, like it’s his fault, he can’t run the computer, and ‘there’s money in my account, I just transferred it in, it’s your dumb*** that can’t,’ and goes off on this kid,” Yore said.

As the confrontation escalated, Paige Yore made yet another effort to intervene. That’s when the young male cashier broke down and admitted why he was having such a hard time. His mother had committed suicide earlier that morning. As expected, the young man was devastated and grieving the shocking death of his mother. But unlike most people, the young man explained to Paige that he was unable to take off from work to grieve.

“He comes around the bagging area and he just hugs me,” Yore said. “I’m weirded out and I hug him back and he’s sobbing. Ma’am, my mom just committed suicide this morning… and I have to work because I have to pay our rent, and I have to pay our bills. And I don’t even have a mom anymore,” he said. “And this lady is just yelling at me.”

Paige Yore revealed the irate customer was completely humiliated for demeaning the grieving young man. But she, herself, learned a significant life lesson as a result of the woman’s rude actions.

“That really just shows me that no matter what… don’t jump down their throat because they are fighting a battle that none of us know about. We just have to be thankful to be alive, and treat people like you want to be treated. Don’t lay into somebody like that because you never know what’s going on in their life.”

As Paige continued to console the young man, she also offered him the monetary help that she could although it definitely wouldn’t change his situation. In less than three days, Paige Yore’s Facebook post has received more than 14 million views.
