‘Legends Of Tomorrow’: New Poster And Trailer Bring DC’s Unlikely Team Together

On the heels of the success of Arrow and The Flash, The CW is going ahead with yet another superhero show and no one can really blame them. DC Comics’ Legends of Tomorrow begins in January, and it’s already been built up pretty well through the other two shows. A new poster and trailer have been released to make fans even more excited about the unlikely team gathering.

As Superhero Hype revealed, the limited series is set to debut on Jan. 21 on The CW, and it’s actually a spinoff of both Arrow and The Flash.

Heroes are not always enough to stop the true forces of evil, and that’s when legends need to come together as one team. Rip Hunter is a time-traveling rogue who has been given the difficult task of putting a team together of both heroes and villains to stop a force that is a threat to Earth and all of time.

For those that may not know who everyone is, let’s take a look at the cast of Legends of Tomorrow.

  • Captain Cold/Leonard Snart – Wentworth Miller
  • Heat Wave/Mick Rory – Dominic Purcell
  • Dr. Martin Stein – Victor Garber – Half of Firestorm
  • Jax Jackson – Franz Drameh – Half of Firestorm
  • White Canary/Sara Lance – Caity Lotz
  • The Atom/Ray Palmer – Brandon Routh
  • Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders – Ciara Reese
  • Hawkman/Carter Hall – Falk Henschel
  • Rip Hunter – Arthur Darvill

Their main challenge and villain will be Vandal Savage, who is going to be played by Casper Crump. We’ve seen him take on Green Arrow and Flash before, and it’s obvious that a lot of help is needed to stop him.

Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and Firestorm were all introduced in multiple episodes of The Flash. Sara and Ray both had significant roles on Arrow. Hawkgirl made small appearances on The Flash, but her biggest appearance came along with Carter in the crossover episodes.

Every single character in Legends of Tomorrow has been introduced at some point or another so far. Well, all but one, and that’s the man who will bring the entire team together: Rip Hunter. As Collider reported, the team will likely not meet Rip until the pilot episode in late January.

The poster is interesting, as it now shows Hawkgirl and Hawkman in full costume. White Canary has had her look tweaked a bit, as well. Firestorm is together in full force in this poster, and they look solid as a team unit.

In the trailer, it does show that there is some skepticism as to what Rip Hunter is actually trying to do. Anyone would find it hard to believe, but the two villains — Captain Cold and Heat Wave — are those that doubt the necessity of the team-up the most.

As strong as this line-up is, they won’t be the only DC Comics’ characters that are seen on the show.

It’s fully expected that both Flash/Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Arrow/Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will end up finding their way into episodes as well. It’s not out of the question to think that Cisco/Vibe, Caitlin/Killer Frost, and Laurel/Black Canary will probably show up at some point too.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has the possibility of being absolutely huge, and if the rumored crossover happens between The Flash and CBS’ Supergirl, then it could get even bigger. That remains to be seen, though. Only time will tell how everything will play out.

For now, there are only seven episodes planned for Legends of Tomorrow on The CW, but there is a very good chance that more will be called for. Ratings have done nothing but get better for The Flash and Arrow and this series shouldn’t be expected to perform any differently.
