Taylor Swift Advice To Selena Gomez: Turn ‘Mistakes Into Something Great’

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez may be superstars, but the recording artists still need friends for advice, according to a new report by U.K. magazine InStyle.

Taylor often offers advice to Selena about the “Good For You” singer’s personal life. In fact, Swift counsels her about turning mistakes into positives, Gomez told the magazine.

“I’ll be like, ‘I think I totally screwed up.’ But Taylor says, ‘Actually, you didn’t’ and shows me how to make my mistakes into something great.”

Likewise, Taylor relies on Selena for dating advice. Gomez tells the magazine that she counsels Swift in “the boys department.”

The advice Gomez provides could be paying off for Taylor. Swift is rumored to be in a long-term relationship with fellow recording artist Calvin Harris as the two were spotted together recently in Australia, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Before the friendship between Swift and Gomez blossomed, Swift had turned her dating experience into several hit songs, including hits “You Belong With Me” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Despite her ability to land some of the hottest names in the music and acting worlds, Taylor seems to constantly churn through boyfriends – and hits, at their expense.

Swift has made headlines this year with the success of her album 1989. Taylor has produced five hit singles from the compilation, including her latest “Wildest Dreams” that Swift launched at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards this summer. At the VMAs, Swift took home the award for Best Video thanks to her squad – including Selena Gomez – acting out a fictitious battle against each other. Taylor honored her squad members with their own replica Moonman award recently, honoring the work on the video.

A tour by the same name as her album has been a smash success for Taylor this year. Swift recently wrapped up the American portion of the tour, and now she is traveling abroad for other tour dates, according to a previous report by the Inquisitr. Taylor has made including famous friends on stage during each tour stop a staple, leading to speculation that Lorde – who may be releasing an album soon – will be included during her Australian tour dates. Swift has used Lorde’s family home during her time there, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Selena has been in the news lately for her rumored revival of her relationship with Justin Bieber. A fan captured video of the “Sorry” singer serenading Gomez at a hotel bar last week, sparking the gossip that Selena had reconciled with her ex-boyfriend, however, a Hollywood Life report suggests that Swift isn’t fond of Selena Gomez making amends with Justin Bieber. According to a source, Taylor hopes the relationship is a “brief” one. For her part, Selena doesn’t want to continue discussing the rumors spreading about her and her former beau, according to her interview with InStyle.

“It’s really hard because I’m a nice person. I’m just tired of talking about it. I never intended for my life to become a tabloid story.”

Selena also told the magazine she wouldn’t mind dating older men. “I feel like I look 16 sometimes, which is a bummer because I would love to date older guys,” Selena Gomez confided.

Before these rumors, Selena Gomez had made headlines by dropping her latest album – Revival – in October. The “Same Old Love” singer posed nude for the cover, an attempt to combat fat-shaming. Gomez was also able to surprise fans by releasing her song “Me & The Rhythm” a few days prior to the album’s drop.
