Kim Kardashian’s Pregnancy History: Could The ‘KUWTK’ Star Need A Hysterectomy?

Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy hasn’t exactly been easy. In fact, the reality TV star has said several times that “pregnancy is not for (her).”

Kardashian is currently pregnant with her second child — a boy due in December. Recently, Kardashian opened up about some of the things that have made her “miserable” during her second pregnancy, including the additional anxiety she’s faced as a result of medical complications of her first pregnancy.

Kardashian’s first child, daughter North West, was born six weeks early after Kim Kardashian was diagnosed with preeclampsia and placenta accreta.

Pregnant women with preeclampsia typically experience high blood pressure, swelling, and in rarer instances, kidney failure. The condition is extremely serious and can lead to death in either the mother or the baby if not treated. According to the Mayo Clinic website, the only cure for preeclampsia is the delivery of the baby.

On her website, Kim Kardashian wrote of her experience with placenta accreta during the delivery of her daughter Nori.

“Right after delivery, the placenta usually then comes out. Mine did not. My placenta stayed attached inside my uterus, which is a condition called placenta accreta. My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails. How disgusting and painful!!! My mom was crying; she had never seen anything like this before.”

Kim went on to write that if the conditions present themselves again as they did with her first pregnancy, there’s a small chance she could need a hysterectomy — though at this point, her doctors don’t think it will be a necessity.

“In a very rare case, I might need a hysterectomy after delivery if my condition is severe enough.”

Kanye West’s wife hasn’t been shy when it comes to talking about the struggles she’s faced during her second pregnancy. Kim Kardashian talked to E! News earlier this month to tell them all about the struggles and medical issues she’s faced while pregnant.

“Every medical issue that you could probably have I feel like I get and I worry so much about it. This pregnancy I have a little bit more anxiety just because I know what’s to come and it’s really inevitable some of the issues that I’m going to have. You know, I have a high-risk delivery and all of that gives me such anxiety.”

Despite the fact that her pregnancy has been difficult, Kardashian told E! News that she’s happy to be pregnant again, since Kardashian “didn’t think it was possible” for her.

Nevertheless, Kardashian isn’t shy about admitting that she simply isn’t one of those women who love being pregnant. Instead, Kardashian, who has gained 52 pounds during this pregnancy, told E! News that pregnancy “is awful.”

“I just don’t think pregnancy and me really agree with each other. You know, it was really hard for me to get pregnant so I do feel really blessed that I am pregnant and, at the end of the day, it is a million times worth it.”

Kardashian added, “I’m really not complaining, I’m just being honest and being honest about [it]. I hate it. You know pregnancy is not for me…You know I’ve heard stories forever about how amazing pregnancy is from my mom and Kourtney and that’s just not the case for me and I’m not going to sit here and lie and act like it’s the most blissful experience. It’s awful.”

What do you think about Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy comments, knowing that she faces a plethora of medical conditions? Do you think it’s OK for Kim to speak frankly about how she feels while she’s pregnant? Why or why not?
