Lamar Odom Drug Overdose: NBA Star Wants To Leave Hospital By Thanksgiving

Lamar Odom has been in the hospital for nearly a month, and according to a new report, he’s ready to get back to his normal life. Although Lamar Odom’s medical care needs are far from over, the former professional athlete has reportedly set his sites on Thanksgiving and hopes to have exited the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by the upcoming holiday.

On November 11, a source revealed Lamar Odom’s alleged plans to exit the hospital to Hollywood Life.

“[Lamar Odom] is getting very antsy and claustrophobic with the hospital surroundings he has been accustomed to of late and he is dreading to spend time in the hospital during Thanksgiving. [Lamar Odom] would love nothing more than to have a full Thanksgiving dinner and enjoy watching football with friends. It just isn’t going to be the same in a hospital room.”

On October 13, Lamar Odom was hospitalized after being found unconscious at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, a legal brothel where he had been partying with a number of women for a few days. During his stay, he allegedly suffered a drug overdose and multiple strokes. At the time, Lamar Odom was said to have mucus running from his nose and mouth, and he was unable to breathe. Once he arrived at the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Lamar Odom was said to be in a coma, and he remained in a coma for the next few days before opening his eyes and communicating with doctors and family members, including his children, Destiny and Lamar Odom Jr, and wife Khloe Kardashian.

Days after Lamar Odom awoke from his coma, he was transferred to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he continued to recover and was often visited by members of his wife’s family, including Kris Jenner and Kim and Kourtney Kardashian.

“[Lamar Odom]’s definitely doing better which is awesome, every day is better,” Lamar Odom’s wife told Extra’s Terri Seymour earlier this week during a book signing at The Grove. “He’s off of all machines. [Lamar Odom] is alive on his own, and no machines are helping him, which is great. But he still has a lot of physical and cognitive therapy to go through, so it’s a long road for him.”

According to his wife, Lamar Odom’s care is going to be ongoing, and as he continues his time at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he’s endured a number of ups and downs.

“Some days he’s really strong and some days he’s weaker than the day before because it’s mentally draining – I’m sure – on [Lamar Odom].”

As for what’s next for Lamar Odom, his wife said he would be trying to learn how to walk first, and once he was able to support himself on his own and walk with assistance, he would likely leave the hospital in lieu of off-site “cognitive and mental strengthening.”

While Lamar Odom is hoping to be out of the hospital by Thanksgiving, one source recently hinted to Hollywood Life that he needs much more care and may “never fully recover.”

Throughout his time under medical care, Lamar Odom has allegedly suffered from organ failure, but currently, he is no longer on machines and is making progress towards a positive recovery. That said, there’s a long way to go for the former professional athlete, and due to the damage he suffered at the brothel, it is possible that he may be permanently impacted.
