Adele Sings ‘Hello’ Live For First Time On BBC Special: Wows Audience, Chats About Life [Video]

Adele sings “Hello” live for the first time, after nearly three years on hiatus, on an hour-long Adele at the BBC special. Needless to say, the audience was wowed.

The special will air on Friday, November 20, on BBC One, and fans all over the world will have an opportunity to not only hear Adele sing, but to get to know her as a human being. Her Adele 25 album will be released the same day, and will, no doubt, be a chart topper.

Graham Norton interviewed Adele, and this is the first time she’s performed on television since she sang “Skyfall” at the Academy Awards in 2013.

I can’t wait for the show. The BBC has been wonderful to me over the years and Graham and I get on great so it’s going to be a laugh.

Norton called the special “the music event of the year,” and said if he wasn’t hosting the show, he would be at home watching it.

In a sneak peek of the conversation between the 27-year-old Adele and Graham, he questioned her on something he read or that was “maybe even made up” about the singer being so happy with her 19 and 21 albums that she might leave the music industry. Adele talked about her love for music and why it took her so long to release a new album.

It was that thing of, do I or don’t I want to go back to my music. It was like obviously I do. And I just wanted to make sure everything was in place for me to do it, so I can do it properly, you know. I can’t do anything else. This is all that I like doing.

The interview promises to be an excellent one, and from the preview, it seems that Adele is comfortable, as she and Graham chat like old friends.

It was clear her audience was happy about her decision to continue making music, because they responded with enthusiastic applause.

There was also a segment on the BBC video dubbed as “Rumor Has It,” where an audience member asked Adele about Twitter.

Rumor has it that you’re not allowed access to your own Twitter account…

The singer responded by laughing and saying, “It’s true.” She explained that several years ago, she sent out tweets to fans while she was drunk. Although she doesn’t drink anymore, she said her management thought it best that her tweets be approved by two other individuals before they’re posted. She added that she writes the tweets herself but someone else posts them. The audience laughed with her.

“Hello” is now number one on the Billboard 100’s singles chart. The song was downloaded 1.11 million times in one week, and has set a record. It’s the first song to sell a million downloads in a single week. Adele’s last album earned six Grammy awards and sold over 30 million copies, per Reuters.

Adele sings “Hello” and other new songs from the 25 album, accompanied by her band, on the upcoming special. She will also sing songs from the classic 21 album and share more with Graham about her career and life.

The BBC notes that it has supported Adele since the beginning of her career. Reggie Yates played “Daydreamer” on BBC Radio 1. This was the first of her songs to receive air play. She debuted on television on Later with Jools Holland the same year and performed “Daydreamer.”
