Serena Williams Video: Here’s Video Of Serena Chasing Down Alleged Male Phone Thief [Video]

Serena Williams doesn’t take too kindly to people stealing her phone. As seen in the below ABC News video, Serena went after a guy who allegedly stole Williams’ phone. With Serena’s fame, it likely wasn’t the cost of the phone that caused Williams to go after the purported phone thief, but the privacy issues that accompanied such a theft. Who knows what kind of photos, personal contact information, and texts Serena could have on her phone?

Heck, Serena’s phone could likely have Drake’s personal “Hotline Bling” direct phone number on there, or any number of other personal items on Williams’ phone that Serena would very much like to keep private and away from thieves. The reported thief could’ve used such stolen information to try and blackmail Serena, or to sell it to the press to write tell-all stories about Williams, stuff she’d like to keep out of the public eye, as would anyone.

Serena took to Twitter and Facebook to explain the whole phone-stealing incident.

The video of Serena chasing down the man who stole her phone, as reported by SB Nation, isn’t really a huge full-speed, running chase. Instead, as seen in the video, it appears that a man walks quickly out of a bar and Serena is close on his heels. Both appear to walk swiftly, not running, out of the crowded place.

In the Facebook post, Serena writes about the crazy phone stealing incident happening as she enjoyed delicious Chinese food with friends, and the phone-stealing guy sidled up to Williams. There were only two people at the table, Serena and potentially the co-founder of Reddit, interestingly. As reportedly by Us Magazine, Serena began dating Alexis Ohanian after meeting him at lunch.

Serena went on to describe how something just didn’t feel right about the man standing next to her, so Williams said her inner guide told her to watch the guy, because he was standing next to Serena for too long of a period of time.

” ‘Is he a customer?’ I thought ‘Is he waiting on the bathroom?’ nonetheless I tried to shake his this eerie feeling. However, I kept watching him from the corner of my eye. Than when least expected low [sic] and behold this common petty thief grabbed my phone and swiftly left. I looked at the chair, then shouted ‘Omg that dude took my phone!!’ Not thinking I reacted (hence the superwoman photo) I jumped up, weaved my way in and out of the cozy restaurant (leaping over a chair or two) and chased him down.

“He began to run but I was too fast. (Those sprints came in handy) I was upon him in a flash! In the most menacing yet calm no nonsense voice I could muster I kindly asked him if he ‘accidentally’ took the wrong phone. He stumbled on his words probably not expecting this to happen. While he was thinking of the right thing to say and eventually he said ‘Gosh you know what I did! It was so confusing in there. I must have grabbed the wrong phone.’ “

Now that the video of the incident has hit the public, folks are noting that the video doesn’t show Serena leaping over a chair or two, but they consider Williams a hero nonetheless for going after the phone thief. Serena said her phone was ringing, because her “superhero sidekick Quailman” was contacting her via FaceTime.
