Gigi Hadid, Joe Jonas Break Up: Source Says Schedules Were Mostly To Blame
Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas have broken up. The rising supermodel and pop star are no longer together after getting together earlier this year. The pair enjoyed a “summer fling” and are now moving on.
TMZ reports that the couple — formerly known as “G.I. Joe” — are splitting up after “what amounts to an extended summer fling.”
An insider who is reportedly close to the couple said Gigi and Joe’s schedules weren’t meshing. Joe wanted to focus on his new group DNCE, which is in the middle of launching a new tour.
It goes without saying that Gigi is booked like crazy with modeling jobs. She’s even modeling for Victoria’s Secret. She has come a long way since appearing on her mother’s reality show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, in Season 3. In relation to her current modeling contracts, Gigi was just starting out as her mom, Yolanda Foster, oversaw her progress during photo shoots on the Bravo reality show.
This breakup means that Joe Jonas won’t be with Gigi Hadid next week when she walks on stage at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show next week.
The last time Hadid and Jonas were seen together was on October 25 in West Hollywood. Neither of them reportedly “looked thrilled” at the time. It was noted that the pair wasn’t together on Halloween when Gigi showed up alone at Kendall Jenner’s festive party. Gigi was in the news for dressing up as Sandy from Grease.
A source spoke to People magazine following news of the Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas breakup. Apparently, there wasn’t any huge dramatic fallout that led to the split.
“Joe and Gigi’s relationship recently ended. Nothing serious happened… it wasn’t a dramatic break up. It was just hard to make it work with their schedules. They will definitely remain friends.”
Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas first appeared on the red carpet together when they attended a Global Lyme Alliance inaugural gala in New York when her mother was honored for her advocacy work in fighting Lyme Disease.
Page Six adds in its coverage of the Hadid-Jonas breakup that when the 20-year-old supermodel directed the video for “Cake By the Ocean” from Jonas’ new band DNCE, he was amazed by her.
Jonas, 26, said, “She had a megaphone. She was a badass. Everybody really looked up to her lead and she really came through and showed us that she could do it.”
In spite of their breakup, the source who spoke with People magazine says that the former couple will remain friends.
Reports are consistent in that Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas split up on good terms. The two are young and having fun as their careers continue taking off. Most celebrities in their age group like to interact and mingle with one another before moving forward. Their busy schedules are usually behind the split factor, and demands put on their careers are typically too much for anyone to maintain a steady relationship long-term until they can adjust to the overwhelming fame. Jonas, however, has been in the spotlight a little longer than Hadid.
