So What Are The Odds Of Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber Getting Back Together?

Justin Bieber just rekindled fans’ hopes about the possibility of him and Selena Gomez getting back together when he confessed his undying love for the “Good For Love” singer in an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life.

“My full identity was in her. Her identity was in me,” the 21-year-old Bieber said of Selena in the interview. “When stuff would happen, I would lose my freakin’ mind, and she would lose her mind, and we would fight so hard because we were so invested in each other.”

Which begs the question: what are the odds of Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber getting back together?

Part of the answer depends on how Selena responded to Bieber’s confession. A source close to Selena Gomez confirmed that the singer was “really happy” and “giddy” when she got wind of Justin’s comments.

“At first Selena Gomez was a bit surprised that Justin was so open about his feelings for her in public. The fact that he’s so ok with letting the world know how he feels about her makes her really happy and kind of giddy. She says she finds the whole thing very flattering.”

Now, those words are definitely going to raise fans’ hopes up. But then again, it’s possible that Selena Gomez was just being graceful about the whole thing. After all, with the huge success of her new album Revival and her Revival Tour set to kick off next year, Selena Gomez’s musical career might take precedence over romance at this point in time. Justin Bieber’s work schedule is just as busy, especially with his new album Purpose set for release in a little over a week. No official word yet on tour dates yet, but it goes without saying that an announcement will be made soon.

On the other hand, busy schedules didn’t stop some celebrity couples from maintaining a stable and fulfilling romantic relationship. Couples that come to mind are Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne and St. Vincent, and Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill, to name a few.

Furthermore, the circumstances of the many break-ups between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are typical of teen relationships. It’s difficult enough to maintain a relationship when you’re at that turbulent age, even more so when both parties have to deal with fame and the myriad complications that go with it.

People become more mature as they age, and while both Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber aren’t what we’d consider “regular” people, the same principle still applies to them both.

In fact, Gomez and Bieber have displayed great leaps in maturity since their respective careers took off again this year. Even the respective titles of their albums, Purpose and Revival, speak volumes about their new approach not just in their careers but in their personal lives. What better way to rekindle old romance than at a time when both parties have already learned from their mistakes and are therefore more mature and wiser as a result?

To reiterate the point, Justin himself said that he might have met Selena Gomez a bit too early. Bieber brought home the point in an interview with Access Hollywood.

“I wrote a song [that] didn’t make the album, it was called ‘If I Would Have Met You In 5 Years. How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it’s just the wrong time. So many people can relate to that.”

“I think we both gotta do some, some soul searching ourselves, and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other,” Bieber said when asked about his current relationship with Gomez.

Selena Gomez has a renewed aura about her lately, like she’s walked through fire and come out stronger on the other side. As Elle‘s Selena Gomez special feature put it, “This is a young woman who is taking control of her story, and her life.”

That doesn’t mean, however, that past loves are out of the equation. When Selena Gomez was asked if there’s a possibility that she and Justin might end up together again, he laughed and shouted, “I don’t know!”
