Kobe Bryant’s Concern For Lamar Odom Is ‘Phony,’ Says Hip Hop Mogul Master P

Kobe Bryant left the L.A. Lakers’ pre-season game in the third quarter and rushed to the hospital to check on his former teammate Lamar Odom on Tuesday, recent reports say.

The Los Angeles Daily News confirmed that Bryant left his teammates, who happened to be playing at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, to visit Odom who was admitted to the hospital after being found unconscious in a brothel in Nevada.

Mitch Kupchak, the general manager for the Lakers, rushed to the hospital with Bryant. Odom is still in a coma and unresponsive. The athlete is in life support after suffering multiple strokes. His former wife, Khloe Kardashian, also arrived at the hospital with sister Kim and mom Kris Jenner. Bryant and the Kardashians reportedly prayed together for Odom’s recovery.

Several kinds of drugs were traced from the 35-year-old NBA star’s blood sample. He was “unconscious but breathing” and foaming at the mouth when he was found by the emergency workers, according to Sheriff Sharon Wehrly. He reportedly took a sex stimulant called “Reload” that is being sold at the brothel. Although no illegal drugs were found in his room, he allegedly told one of the female workers that he had already done crack before he came into the brothel.

Friends of Odom, including Bryant, are hoping that he recovers soon.

However, one man close to the troubled athlete doubts Bryant’s sincerity. Rapper Master P is calling Bryant a “phony” after he got wind of Bryant rushing to Odom’s side.

Master P, who has been friends with Odom for a very long time, says Bryant could have saved his former teammate’s life. He says he knew Odom wanted to get back to the team so badly and claims Bryant knew what Odom was going through and could have helped him get back to the team through his influence, but Bryant allegedly did nothing to help him. Master voiced his opinion.

“If Kobe was his friend… Kobe, like, owns the team. He could’ve got the man back on the team… that’s all he wanted.”

He says “so many phony and fake people” came to pour their love and support now that Odom is in a dire situation. He believes Odom was “searching for love” and his biggest problem was the people he showed love to were nowhere to be found at the time he needed them.

Master P believes the visits from Bryant and the Kardashians are more for publicity. He also made cutting remarks on the NBA saying his friend was “blackballed” from the association when he decided to be on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

“I just feel like it’s fake… everybody loves somebody when they’re going through something… or something is about to happen to them,” Master P said of Bryant’s display of affection. When asked about Odom’s relationship with Khloe, the rapper said he thinks the wedding was all for publicity although Odom truly loved Khloe. “[H]e didn’t realize what he was going into,” observed Master P. He added that he felt like Odom was “taken advantage of the whole time.”

The Lakers management has not yet released an official statement on Odom. However, Coach Byron Scott expressed his sadness over their former player’s situation after a game on Tuesday. “Our heart and thoughts and prayers are with Lamar and his family and I wish him all the best. That’s obviously something you don’t want to hear before the game.”

Kendall Jenner, Odom’s sister-in-law, tweeted “Please don’t go” on Wednesday. His 17-year-old daughter, Destiny, also took to Twitter to express her grief over her father’s present condition.
