Drake And Serena Williams No Longer Dating? ‘Energy’ Rapper, Tennis Star Fuel Breakup Rumors

Drake and Serena Williams may have been quick to shut down rumors of their alleged engagement earlier this week, but it looks like Drake and Williams are also making a point to set the record straight regarding the status of their relationship as well.

Drake and Serena made headlines on Wednesday after one tabloid rumor began suggesting that Drake proposed to Williams while the duo were visiting the rapper’s native Toronto earlier this week.

The rumor went on to suggest that while Serena accepted Drake’s proposal only after a few short months of dating, both Drake and Williams were adamant about keeping their engagement news out of the press.

Within hours of Drake and Williams’ alleged engagement making headlines, sources close to Drake and Serena reached out to several outlets in order to shut down the rumors while simultaneously clarifying the true nature of Drake and Serena’s romance.

A source close to Drake and Williams explains to E! News that not only is the duo not engaged, Drake and Serena are not even officially a couple.

Similarly, another insider reveals to Gossip Cop that Drake and Serena are nothing more than “longtime friends,” before noting that the duo are absolutely “not in a relationship” despite months of dating reports.

To make matters more awkward, the site also reports that Serena Williams received a flurry of congratulatory texts in regards to her “engagement” to Drake after the rumors began popping up in the news.

Sources close to Serena also explained to the site that the tabloid that originally ran the story regarding Drake and Williams’ engagement was told several times that the duo were not dating, but decided to run the story anyway with a slew of false details about the nature of Serena and Drake’s relationship.

While Drake and Serena may not be putting a label on their relationship just yet, the duo has been making headlines for their PDA-filled dates over the past few months.

Earlier this week, fans gushed over Drake and Serena’s flirty behavior after Williams left a cute comment on one of Drake’s shirtless Instagram photos in which she compared the hunky rapper to He-Man, Elite Daily reports.

Similarly, Williams further fueled the ongoing dating rumors between herself and Drake after she was spotted dancing backstage at one of Drake’s shows last weekend.

More notably, Drake made headlines in September after he was branded “the curse” following his attendance at Serena’s semifinal match during the U.S. Open in which the tennis champ lost to the 43rd-ranked player in the world.

Despite Williams’ fans slamming Drake for allegedly being a distraction for Serena during the competition, the duo were spotted together once again during the celebratory opening of Drake’s restaurant, Fring’s, in Toronto, TMZ reports.

According to witnesses in attendance at the restaurant opening, Serena reportedly hung out with Drake’s mother before engaging in some congratulatory PDA with the “Hotline Bling” rapper.

While Drake and Serena continue to shoot down rumors of their rekindled relationship, sources close to Williams previously explained to TMZ in August that the athlete is being cautious when it comes to getting back together with Drake due to his reputation for being “a player.”

Serena’s insider explains that while Williams has been into Drake ever since they first dated in 2011, the duo’s relationship didn’t end on good terms because Drake “had his eyes on a few other chicks at the same time” as his romance to Serena.

The source further explains that Williams’ friends are cautioning her against getting serious with Drake for fear that she will have her heart broken once again, but sources close to Drake insist that things are “different this time” and that Drake and Serena have a “good vibe” in their friendship.
