Melissa Gorga Talks Teresa Giudice’s Imprisonment, ‘Teresa Checks In,’ And More

Melissa Gorga is speaking out about Teresa Giudice and her family’s upcoming special, The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In. During a new interview with OK! Magazine, Melissa Gorga, the sister-in-law of Guidice, and wife of Giudice’s brother, Joe Gorga, spoke out with good news about their previously feuding family.

“When there is a time of crisis that’s when you really need family,” Melissa Gorga told OK Magazine at the grand opening party for Bowlmor Green Brook earlier this week, according to a report on October 9. “That’s when you really come together and that’s what we’re doing.”

Melissa Gorga’s sister-in-law, Giudice, along with husband Joe Giudice, is the mother of four children, Gia Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana. So, when she entered prison in January to serve a 15-month prison term for charges of bank and wire fraud, her family came together in an effort to provide support to Joe and their girls.

“It’s an emotional special. You might shed a tear or two. It’s heartwarming to see how families come together in a time of crisis,” Melissa Gorga said of The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In documenting her family’s mended relationship.

While Joe and his daughters are going through an understandably difficult time with their mother away, Melissa Gorga insisted everyone was “doing really well” given the circumstances.

“I love the girls. Joe [Gorga] and I are there for them. They are handling it so well it’s unbelievable.”

Melissa Gorga, who shares three children with her husband, Joe Gorga, has “not spoken” to Giudice since her prison term began in January, but regardless of their lack of communication, Melissa Gorga confirmed she is looking forward to celebrating Christmas with Giudice and her family.

In the past, Melissa Gorga and Giudice have had a strained relationship, but now, it appears their Real Housewives of New Jersey season 6 reconciliation has lasted long after filming wrapped in 2014, and that is what’s best for everyone. Although it is unclear what fans will get to see of Melissa Gorga during the Giudice family’s three-part special, they will certainly hear tons of details about Giudice, as well as her relationships with her daughters and husbands.

Joe and the girls began filming the special several weeks ago, months into Giudice’s prison term began at the Federal Correctional Facility in Danbury, Connecticut, and the show will soon begin airing as a three-episode documentary on Bravo.

Once Melissa Gorga’s sister-in-law, Giudice, is out of prison, she will reportedly rejoin Melissa Gorga, as well as her co-stars, for filming on the upcoming seventh season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. While Melissa Gorga has reportedly already begun filming the series’ new installment, she only shot a couple of scenes, and won’t resume production until the rest of the cast is established.

Rumored to be possibly returning to the series for season 7 are Kathy Wakile, Rosie Pierri, Dina Manzo, Jacqueline Laurita, and Amber Marchese. As for the twins, Nicole Napolitano and Teresa Aprea, it has been reported that they will not come back to the show and rejoin Melissa Gorga for season 7. That said, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Bravo to find out what’s really going on behind the scenes.

For more of Melissa Gorga’s family, including Joe, Gia, Gabrielle, Milania, and Audriana Giudice, tune into The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In on Sunday, October 11, at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
