Sheryl Crow Reveals She Has Benign Brain Tumor

Sheryl Crow has a really good reason for forgetting the lyrics to her hit songs, like “Soak Up the Sun.” The singer revealed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in November, but don’t worry, it’s benign.

The Boot reports that Crow stated:

“In November, I found out I have a brain tumor. But it’s benign, so I don’t have to worry about it. But it gives me a fit.”

Now she has a perfectly good explanation for fans who have been to see her in concert recently. The “fits” she refers to are memory loss, like forgetting lyrics she has sung hundreds of times. Issues like these are what prompted the popular songstress to seek medical treatment before, having been no stranger to tumors (she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but that is now in remission).

Sheryl Crow recalled, according to The Boot, that:

“I worried about my memory so much that I went and got an MRI. I found out I have a brain tumor, and I was like, ‘See? I knew there was something wrong.'”

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the singer has a history of forgetting lyrics, including in the 1990s at the Hard Rock Hotel. She stated she forgot the intro to “A Change Would Do You Good,” and that:

“Not only could I not remember the first line, I couldn’t remember the first line to any of the verses. I started laughing so hard! And I looked over at my guitar player, and he’s bent over like he’s gonna just start peeing.”

Sheryl Crow was quick to note that the brain tumor is not slowing her down, as she is slated to release a new album this October.
