‘Toy Story 4’ Release Date Delayed, But Many Other Disney Pixar Movies Coming Over Next 4 Years

Toy Story 4’s release date has been delayed slightly. Disney Pixar confirms that the highly anticipated fourth movie in the franchise will not be released until 2018. However, to curb the disappointment, the company has released the dates of upcoming movies over the next four years.

A number of exciting Disney sequels will be hitting the big screen, along with Toy Story 4. Cars 3 and The Incredibles 2 both now have release dates. Cars 3 will hit movie theaters on June 16, 2017, and The Incredibles 2 two years later. The fourth Toy Story will be released in between, still in June.

Disney Pixar previously announced that it was cutting back on the amount of movies it was making. Each year, there would be up to two movies, and one of those would be a sequel to a previously released movie. The schedule released up to 2019 certainly sticks to that plan, with just two new original animation movies being released.

There are various reasons why Disney Pixar decided to take a step back on creating animation movies. The main issue is the likes of Toy Story and Cars take so long to make. It is not as simple as giving actors a script and getting them to act it out for the cameras. The actors need to do the voices, while an animation team needs to work on the graphics; graphics that have gotten better over the years. Toy Story 3 was in 3D, and many wonder whether the fourth instalment will be the same.

Two original movies will be released over the next two years, according to Chip & Co. On November 25, 2015, The Good Dinosaur will be released, and Coco will follow in November 2017. The fourth sequel and sixth movie announced over the next four years will be Finding Dory, a Finding Nemo sequel. That will come in June 2016, hinting that Disney Pixar has a plan to release sequels at the same time of the year over the next few years.

The news of Toy Story 4 will disappoint some fans of the franchise. It is the most successful Disney Pixar movie, despite the original being created in 1995. Adults and children love the idea of talking toys getting up to mischief while their owners are away. They also love the dynamic between Woody and Buzz, the two main characters. Since the release of the three feature length films, smaller shorts have been introduced. Fans originally expected to see the movie released in 2017, with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen still expected to voice the two main characters.

Toy Story is not the only movie being pushed back by a year. A number of Disney live-action movies are also being pushed back for release. Captain Marvel will now be released in March 2019 rather than November 2018. It is possible that the release has been timed to work with the release of Avengers: Infinity – Part II, set for release two months later. Another three Marvel titles—still to be confirmed—will be released in 2020.

Black Panther is getting pushed forward to help curb the upset. It will now be released on February 16, 2018. The movie’s original date will now see a sequel to Ant-Man. The Daily Mail says another animated movie called Gigantic is going to be released on March 6, 2018. This was not mentioned by Chip & Co.

There are other movies expected to be released during 2018 and 2019. These movies currently have no titles, but one is expected to be a Disneytoons Studio movie. Other Pixar movies are also expected to be released in 2020, but definite dates and titles are still pencilled in the diary. There are certainly more movies to look forward to, despite Toy Story 4‘s release date being pushed back.
