Demi Lovato Naked In ‘Vanity Fair’ NSFW Video: Lovato Talks Eating Disorder Recovery And Faith

Demi Lovato has ruled the airways with her “Cool for the Summer” song, and now she’s causing quite a bit of buzz in a new NSFW video titled “Demi Lovato Explains Her Nude, No-Makeup Photo Shoot” on the YouTube channel of Vanity Fair. Demi’s real name is Demetria Devonne Lovato, and she rose to fame as a Disney Channel TV star in the movie Camp Rock.

The 23-year-old Demi has had plenty of ups and downs as fans have followed her career. Demi began as a child star in Barney & Friends, along with longtime friend Selena Gomez. Lovato experienced plenty of musical and acting success, but was temporarily derailed by what Demi admits was a self-abusive time. Lovato experienced bulimia bouts, drug and alcohol use, and more. Demi spoke of her bulimia and cutting issues, reports ABC News, along with the fact that Demi took responsibility for punching a backup dancer, a move that garnered Lovato an intervention and eventual time in rehab.

Demi explained that her naked Vanity Fair photoshoot wasn’t about Lovato just getting naked for the sake of being naked, but that it represented something a lot deeper about Demi’s transformation.

“The reason why I decided to do this photoshoot is because…when I think of confident…I think of many things, but one of those things is feeling comfortable in your own skin.”

Lovato expressed that appearing naked before the cameras — without the usual hair and makeup and being dressed to the nines — expressed just how far she’d come from getting over her bad body outlook. Indeed, the lyrics to Demi’s “Cool for the Summer” song prove that she’s okay with her form, as she tells a suitor not to be scared because she’s his body type.

“I thought there was something incredible about no makeup, no clothes, and no retouching. It shows you can get to a point of overcoming body image issues.”

Demi’s words about loving the body one is born into and Lovato’s role model of accepting herself at last — through faith and grace — should surely help the young women using hashtags such as Secret Society 123. Those types of “pro-ana” Instagram hashtags rival the ones that believe in being strong, not skinny, and teach others about eating disorder recovery. Demi is helping that movement on a big level, with Lovato not being afraid to express her own truth.

“In the past I suffered from eating disorder. I went from basically hating every inch of my body to loving the skin that I’m in. I learned after working very hard on my spirituality and my soul.”

Demi surprised the Vanity Fair photographer by saying she wanted to go nude, reports the publication. Apparently Lovato shocked herself, along with Vanity Fair photographer Patrick Ecclesine, when Demi gussied up the nerve to go naked. Since Lovato hasn’t done a nude photoshoot like that before, Patrick said he wanted to do it with sensitivity.

In the end Demi thanked Patrick, hugged him and gave thanks for Ecclesine helping Lovato look pretty. For Demi to strip down emotionally and physically, Lovato is showing a side of herself plenty different from the Photoshop world in which Demi is usually surrounded by. Lovato looks curvy and fine in her photoshoot, with Demi showing off her tattoos in the tasteful shoot. It appears Lovato is mostly in or around a bathroom during the shoot. One video footage section shows Demi sitting on the edge of a tub naked. Another shows Lovato sans makeup, with her sheer beauty shining through.

The reaction to Demi on social media proves fans are happy that Lovato is in a good place in her life.
