‘Wolverine 3’ To Focus On Professor X Relationship?

The Wolverine franchise has been a bit of a mess. Whether it’s plot that didn’t exactly work, or box office bombs, producers haven’t really gotten a great grip on the franchise. Now, we’re learning that Wolverine 3 is looking to change that.

Hugh Jackman spoke to Collider ahead of his new film Pan, in which he plays Blackbeard. The conversation quickly turned to the upcoming Wolverine sequel. During the interview he revealed that Wolverine will focus a bit on Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in a completely different way.

At the time, Jackman told Collider, “Patrick does figure in it that’s for sure. I think it’s a really important relationship but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas.”

Back in June, the Inquisitr reported about the rumor that we might see “Old Man Logan” in Wolverine 3. Although nothing has been confirmed, this is a big point to consider. As stated, Old Man Logan was a storyline that was written for eight issues back in 2008 and 2009. The storyline included super villains ruling the world in a dystopian future. In this setting Wolverine is no longer Wolverine, but goes back to his “normal” identity Logan, that is until he delivers a mysterious package for Hawkeye.

Throughout the mission Wolverine must remember who he used to be. The fact that the studio would choose to focus on such a short storyline is suspect but anything can happen.

As for stretching out the legacy of Wolverine, Hugh Jackman has an idea of who he wants to carry on in his place when he eventually says goodbye to the role that made him famous in the States. As the Inquisitr reported, Jackman thinks that actor Tom Hardy should play Wolverine next.

According to Comic Book, Jackman joked, “I don’t want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me. I still got one more to do.” Jackman told MTV News, “He’s younger than me for sure but I think Tom Hardy would be great.” Some fans had a few opinions about Tom Hardy as the next Wolverine:
