Last night at WWE Night of Champions, Sting had his first ever shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Title, and it didn’t go quite as well as he had hoped. He ended up losing the match, but even more significant was an injury that appeared to really affect the icon in the ring. With those two things happening, one has to wonder if Sting will be on Monday Night Raw this evening.
According to WrestleZone, the original plan was for Sting to return to his home after last night’s pay-per-view, but that appears to have changed. Now, it seems as though he is indeed going to be on Raw tonight, but it isn’t known in what capacity.
It’s not known exactly why the change was made for Sting to appear tonight, but he will be on the show in some way or another.
Last night at Night of Champions, Sting suffered what is being called a “significant” neck injury during his match with Seth Rollins. It appeared to happen after Rollins hit Sting with a turnbuckle powerbomb, which caused the legend’s head to pop back.
Just a few minutes later, Sting ended up collapsing to the mat.
Sting was checked on by the referee and the ringside doctor who stayed in the ring with him for about five minutes. As WWE.com recapped, the match did continue and Seth Rollins ended up rolling up Sting to retain his title.
Almost immediately, Sting rolled out of the ring and was helped to the back by WWE staff and trainers. Fans didn’t notice a lot of this as Seth Rollins then had to deal with the possibility of Sheamus cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase and the return of Kane.
Sting appearing on Monday Night Raw this evening is quite shocking, and it will be interesting to see exactly what is done or what he says. It’s hard to believe that any kind of fight or match or action will take place after the condition he was in last night.
Then again, not everything is known about Sting’s injury, and it may have been just a stinger that passed after a few hours.
While it could still change again, fans can look forward to seeing Sting on Monday Night Raw tonight despite the injury he suffered last night at Night of Champions. It’s not known what he will say or do, but the legend will surely address all that is going on.
