Megan Fox Taking Jess’s Loft Spot On ‘New Girl’?

Megan Fox is swooping in to take over for Zooey Deschanel in season 5 of New Girl.

Sorta.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Megan has accepted a several-episode character arc on New Girl, a hit Fox comedy anchored by Deschanel’s character, Jess Day. Fox will enter the show with Zooey temporarily out due to maternity leave.

Fox, who is joining New Girl during this season’s sixth episode, will be playing Reagan, a pharmaceutical sales representative that moves into Jess’s loft spot while Deschanel’s character is away on jury duty. Megan will play a character who is goregous, straight-shooting and ready to shake things up, New Girl executive producer Liz Meriwether said of the 29-year-old actress’ new role.

“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”

Megan earned her role because Deschanel and her husband — Jacob Pechenki (who only wed this summer) — welcomed a new girl of their own to their family in August. Fox will first appear in her role on New Girl in early January, the report stated.

Fox will not be the first big-name superstar to have joined the cast of New Girl. In addition to Deschanel, other guests with or without recurring roles include Jamie Lee Curtis, Rob Reiner, Prince, Olivia Munn, Josh Gad, and Lizzy Caplan, according to a Variety report announcing the Megan signing for the sitcom.

The Transformers star may be well-known for her big screen action, but her start came from playing roles on the small screen. Fox was last seen in a television role on Hope & Faith (2004-2006), but Megan also had recurring roles on Ocean Ave. (2002-2003) and The Help (2004), according to her IMDB page.

After making a name for herself with her breakout role in Transformers, Fox went on to land roles in several big-budget movies, including 2014’s blockbuster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Megan will soon be starring the TMNT sequel in 2016 as well as another role in Zeroville. In the latter, the latest New Girl actress will be cast alongside James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Will Ferrell.
