Barack Obama Was An Inconsiderate Pot Smoker
Don’t bogart that joint, Mr. President.
President Obama admitted to using drugs in his memoir, “Dreams From My Father,” but biographer David Maraniss dives a little deeper into the President’s smoking habits at the Punahou School in Hawaii.
According to Maraniss, not only did President Obama enjoy a nice joint every once in a while, the President was also an inconsiderate pot smoker.
“When a joint was making the rounds, he often elbowed his way in, out of turn, shouted ‘Intercepted!’ and took an extra hit.”
Obama was also allegedly responsible for starting the “Total Absorption” practice with his friends. Obama and his buddies, the “Choom gang,” would penalize smokers who didn’t fully absorb all of the smoke into their lungs after a hit. Maraniss writes:
“When you were with Barry and his pals, if you exhaled precious pakalolo (Hawaiian slang for marijuana, meaning “numbing tobacco”) instead of absorbing it fully into your lungs, you were assessed a penalty and your turn was skipped the next time the joint came around.”
Maraniss describes one more smoking practice common among Obama and his buddies. The group also did “roof hits.” While smoking in cars, they would roll up the windows and let the smoke build up against the roof. After the joint was finished, they’d tilt their heads up and suck in the last bits of smoke from the ceiling.
Maraniss writes:
“When the pot was gone, they tilted their heads back and sucked in the last bit of smoke from the ceiling.”
