NFL expert picks for Week 2 have come in from ESPN now. One of the interesting Week 2 NFL picks has only one of the 13 analysts selecting the Seattle Seahawks to beat the Green Bay Packers. ESPN.com releases weekly predictions on how all the games around the league will turn out, often spurring discussion and debate about which expert will make the smartest selections. Four of them picked 12 games correctly in Week 1, with Mike Golic, Keith Jackson, Ron Jaworski, and Mark Schlereth leading the way.
It should be noted that none of the experts that went 12-4 with their Week 1 picks has selected either the Seahawks to beat the Packers or the Dallas Cowboys to beat the Philadelphia Eagles. Two of them picked the Buffalo Bills to beat the New England Patriots, which is a game where the ESPN analysts are split on the prediction. 11 analysts have picked 6-5 in favor of the Patriots. As for the Cowboys vs. Eagles game, the 11 analysts picked 9-2 in favor of the Eagles.
Overall, there are only three games where the Week 2 NFL expert picks are unanimous. Those predictions are the New Orleans Saints beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the St. Louis Rams beating the Washington Redskins, and the Miami Dolphins beating the Jacksonville Jaguars. Game predictions that were close to being unanimous are the Baltimore Ravens over the Oakland Raiders, the Tennessee Titans over the Cleveland Browns, and the Pittsburgh Steelers over the San Francisco 49ers.
Some good bulletin board material is that the ESPN analysts are picking the Kansas City Chiefs over the Denver Broncos. Peyton Manning had a rough first week, and now the experts appear to be turning on him, even though the Broncos still beat the Baltimore Ravens. Jay Cutler and his Chicago Bears are also predicted to lose to the Arizona Cardinals, despite playing at home in Week 2.
The rest of the ESPN game predictions for Sunday, September 20, are the Carolina Panthers over the Houston Texans, the Minnesota Vikings over the Detroit Lions, the Cincinnati Bengals over the San Diego Chargers, and the New York Giants over the Atlanta Falcons. The Giants vs. Falcons game is pretty evenly split among the analysts, with the Giants just barely getting the overall support. That and the Patriots vs. Bills game are the two most contested by the analysts in Week 2.
The Monday, September 21, game is between the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets. Though three analysts have picked the Jets to win, including Marcus Allen and Mike Ditka, the overall opinion is that Andrew Luck should lead the Colts to victory. The Sunday night game takes place at 8:30 p.m. ET and is the Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers, but the Week 2 NFL expert picks from ESPN suggest that Aaron Rodgers is going to take his team to 2-0.
