As someone whose fashion choices are constantly under the media’s microscope, it should come as no surprise that Nicki Minaj (and friend, British Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton) grabbed the camera’s attention during New York Fashion Week.
As reported by The Mirror , the singer and the racer were front row for the American designer Alexander Wang’s show on Saturday night — and both showed that they deserved to be a part of the biggest fashion event in the country. Nicki wore a mesh nude and black Alexander Wang dress that showed off her curvaceous figure. Lewis kept things simple, donning a t-shirt and jeans with a leather jacket, all in black.
The show was a celebration of the designer’s tenth year in New York.
Other musical celebrities at the event with Minaj and Hamilton included fashion-conscious friends Lady Gaga, Kanye West, and The Weeknd. Lewis, as noted by the Daily Mail , has teased fans about his musical aspirations in the past. Earlier in the weekend, Hamilton grabbed everyone’s attention when he busted out a song at a club in New York City.
And while Nicki and Lewis embraced the media’s attention, music and fashion mogul Kanye West wasn’t having any of it. As reported by Hollywood Life , Kanye threw up his hoodie to avoid having his picture taken. Nicki, however, wouldn’t let him get away with such antics. Known for such hit songs as “Super Bass” and “Anaconda,” the Grammy Award winner also caused a buzz this weekend by hinting at a collaboration with The Weeknd . The Weeknd has been an especially hot musical act this summer. During the week of July 25, he became the first artist to hold all three top spots on Billboard ‘s “Hot R&B Songs” chart with “Can’t Feel My Face,” “The Hills,” and “Earned It.”

If the Trinidadian-born rapper teams up with this Canadian singer, it will be the first time the two have officially worked together. Nicki, whose latest album, The Pinkprint , came out a little over nine months ago, certainly gave her fans something to talk about and look forward to. Her fans are also anticipating her role as Draya in 2016’s Barbershop 3 .
Lewis Hamilton’s fans, on the other hand, are looking forward to next weekend. At the Singapore Grand Prix, the racing champion–and richest sportsman in Great Britain–has a chance to pick up his third consecutive win.
