Two more alleged predators are off the street in Bowling Green, Kentucky, as two men were arrested for a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl Saturday afternoon.
According to WBKO, Sheriff’s deputies of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department were originally called to Beech Bend Park at approximately 1:17 p.m. on Saturday afternoon after they received a call from a concerned individual at the park. The police were told that a 12-year-old girl had told others at the park that a man was attempting to kidnap her 6-year-old cousin, according to Bowling Green Daily News.
That man, Agustin Mendez-Intzin, 26, of Glasgow, Kentucky, was detained by park goers until the police had arrived. After police interviewed people at the park, it was discovered that Mendez-Intzin had not attempted to kidnap anyone, but had previously been involved in a sexual relationship with the 12-year-old, who said her cousin was being kidnapped by Mendez-Intzin.
According to News 5, the attempted abduction story was made up by the 12-year-old girl. Bowling Green Daily News reports that deputies have not yet determined why the 12-year-old said Mendez-Intzin was trying to kidnap her 6-year-old cousin.
Mendez-Intzin had originally met the 12-year-old two weeks prior at the Beech Bend Park. The day they met, the 12-year-old went with Mendez-Intzin to his car in the parking lot. According to his arrest citations, Mendez-Intzin told deputies that he had touched the 12-year-old in a sexual manner and kissed her.
According to Glasgow Daily Times, he and the 12-year-old remained in contact via phone and text message.
At the time of the incident, Bowling Green Daily News reports that Juan Cipriano-Mora, 25, also of Glasgow, was in the front seat of Mendez-Intzin’s car, watching him while he kissed and touched the 12-year-old sexually in the backseat.
Agustin Mendez-Intzin was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, illegal sex act-child under 16-years-old.
Juan Cipriano-Mora was arrested and charged with complicity to first-degree sexual abuse and to first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, illegal sex act-child under 16 years old.
Both men are being held at the Warren County Regional Jail on $25,000 bonds.
This is not the first time this year an adult has been arrested for sexual acts with a 12-year-old inside a car. In March, 2015, a mother looking for her 12-year-old daughter found her naked in a car with a 23-year-old United States Army soldier as they engaged in sexual intercourse. Before police arrived and made the arrest, the 12-year-old girl’s mother managed to give the man a black eye.
Who do you think is the worse predator? Mendez-Intzin, who was sexually involved with the 12-year-old, or Cipriano-Mora, who watched the sexual encounter with the 12-year-old and did not stop it?
