Bindi Irwin is putting her dancing shoes on for Season 21 of Dancing with the Stars . Irwin is the teen daughter of the late Steve Irwin, the man adored by many as the Crocodile Hunter star. Bindi will be partnering with Derek Hough for this fall’s DWTS season, and many are anxious to know more about the teen.
This new Dancing with the Stars contestant recently turned 17-years-old, and she lives in Australia with her mom, Terri, and brother, Robert. As Biography notes, Bindi Irwin appeared on The Crocodile Hunter with her family when she was little, and she went on to have own show called Bindi: The Jungle Girl after her father’s death. She’s also created a number of books for young readers.
As many will remember, Steve Irwin died in 2006 after a stunning encounter with a stingray. Bindi is, to a large degree, following in her father’s footsteps regarding her love for wildlife. The Irwins have continued their work with the Australia Zoo and Bindi is a dedicated wildlife conservationist like her father. Bindi has been homeschooled and has already built quite the empire for herself.
In addition to her books and television shows, Bindi has appeared on numerous other shows, created a clothing line, put together an exercise video, and has even done some singing. Irwin was in the DVD release Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove and her book series is called Bindi Wildlife Adventures .
In addition to all of her work at the zoo and her entertainment industry appearances, Bindi is heavily involved in the Wildlife Warriors Worldwide charity . Steve and Terri Irwin founded the organization in 2002, and it indicates that its mission is to be the most effective conservation organization of its kind in the world.
Bindi is quite dedicated to her family and her conservation work, but she also has recently opened up about having a boyfriend. Irwin is dating 18-year-old wakeboarder Chandler Powell .
The Florida wakeboarder has been involved in the Wildlife Warriors program for some time now, and it seems the shared passion for conservation led to romance. He’s already shared that he’ll be rooting for Bindi on DWTS and that he’s her biggest fan.
How will Bindi and Derek fare on Season 21 of Dancing with the Stars ? It’s certainly an eclectic cast this fall with the likes of Hayes Grier , Paula Deen, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, and Gary Busey hitting the dance floor. Could Derek Hough and Bindi Irwin snag the Mirror Ball Trophy this fall on DWTS ? Fans are definitely hoping so and can’t wait to get going with the new season.
