Caitlyn Jenner Opens Up On ‘Ellen’ & ‘I Am Cait,’ Including Gay Marriage, Transgender Dating, & Kris Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner is gradually letting go of her secrets on topics ranging from gay marriage to whether she’s really dating Candis Cayne as well as opening the door (in some cases, literally) to reveal how her family is adjusting, from ex-wife Kris to young daughter Kendall Jenner. And for her first talk show appearance, Caitlyn chose The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the 65-year-old reality TV and athletic star helped Ellen debut her 13th season, reported E! News.

One question that DeGeneres asked focused on politics. Given that Jenner has described herself as a conservative republican, Ellen challenged Caitlyn to explain why she supports that political party.

“It’s not a bad thing, the only thing is, a lot of republicans…would vote against all the issues that you as a woman and you as a transperson would want to support,” pointed out DeGeneres.

But Jenner clarified that she sees herself as a traditionalist, admitting that when she first contemplated the question of marriage of same-sex couples, she was against it.

“Gay marriage. I have to admit that I remember 15 years ago, 20 years ago whenever it was the whole gay marriage issue came up at first, I was not for it…I like tradition and it’s always been between a man and a woman…But as time goes on, like a lot of people on this issue I’ve really changed thinking here, to I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness.”

Consequently, Caitlyn added that she’s now decided if marriage is important to someone, she accepts it.

Jenner also discussed the issues involved in dating in the transgender community.

“Yes would I like to find a partner in life to share my life with,” admitted Caitlyn. “As time goes on I’ll deal with that subject.”

But Jenner doesn’t plan on adding to her family with more children, she joked.

“Everybody wants to have a partner everybody would love to have a family… I’ve kind of passed that stage in my life… [I have] too many kids,” laughed Caitlyn.

As the Inquisitr reported, Jenner had responded to questions about whether she is a lesbian in her highly publicized interview with Diane Sawyer.

“No, I’m not gay. I am as far as I know, heterosexual,” said Caitlyn.

Jenner clarified that a distinction exists between sexuality and gender identity.

“You’re going back to the sex thing, and it’s apples and oranges. Sexuality is who you are personally attracted to. But gender identity is who you are as a person and your soul and who you identify as inside.”

During her interview with Ellen, Caitlyn also responded to a question about Candis Cayne, with whom she has a high-profile relationship. Jenner carefully avoided directly answering the question many have asked, which is whether she and Candis are dating.

“Actually, Candis is backstage, but that’s a whole other deal,” said Caitlyn.

It’s not just on Ellen’s talk show that Jenner has shareed her new life as a transgender woman – she’s also opened up on her docu-reality TV series, I Am Cait, reported Us Weekly.

The show revealed, for example, what it was like when Kris Jenner finally met Caitlyn in person. While Caitlyn pondered how she feels that Kris has stayed away, her friends suggested that she seek to be empathetic.

“It’s not like someone’s not a good enough wife if they decide not to stay with their trans partner,” opined Deedie, wife to Jenny Boylan. “Everyone has to decide what works for them.”

And although Caitlyn said she cherishes her independence in some ways, she also revealed some sorrow about the relationship she now has with Kris.

“When I bought this house, it was the first time that I bought my own home. In fact, Kris bought one house that I didn’t even see until after she bought it… Kris and I right now? I learn more about her by reading stuff online. It’s been tough, I feel bad about it.”

However, Jenner feels positive about her relationship with daughter Kendall, reported People.

Caitlyn turned to Twitter to share an adorable photo with Kendall.

“So great spending time with @KendallJenner!” tweeted Caitlyn. “Love my little girl.”

Kendall returned the love with a throwback photo.
