New York Knicks rumors about Kristaps Porzingis should please fans. The latest Knicks rumors about the No. 4 selection in the 2015 NBA Draft suggest he has been very successful at adding muscle mass this offseason. A report from the New York Post states that he has added 11 pounds of muscle in the last five weeks alone. That’s good news, as the Knicks need Kristaps to be able to hold his own against some of the best power forwards in the NBA this year.
Team president Phil Jackson has placed a lot of faith in the young big man, selecting him over some more developed players in the draft. That risk could pay off if the effort that Porzingis is putting in hints at his dedication to becoming a NBA star. His name certainly wasn’t familiar to many Knicks fans before draft night, but Porzingis has been saying and doing all the right things in preparation for his rookie season.
These New York Knicks rumors relay that Kristaps Porzingis and second-round draft pick Guillermo Hernangomez have been on a new weight-training program over the past five weeks. They are working with Audie Norris, who coached Porzingis in Spain last year. Norris himself was a player in the NBA during the early 1980s with the Portland Trail Blazers. Though he has every incentive to speak well Porzingis, some of his comments are worth noting.
“I think he’s going to do very well his rookie season, because he has more confidence than fans really know. The Knicks did a good job of looking at Kris in all aspects. I don’t think Phil would’ve wasted a high draft pick on somebody who wouldn’t contribute his first year. His work ethic is really, really high. Not trying to sound like an agent. I coached him and know his potential. He’s doing everything in his power to prove the fans who booed wrong.”
There are a lot of new faces on the Knicks’ roster this year, but fans can only hope that everyone is willing to put in the work that Kristaps Porzingis has undertaken during the NBA offseason. That would certainly bode well for the teams’ chances at making it back to the NBA Playoffs. As far as New York Knicks rumors go, hearing that a top draft pick is putting in the work necessary to become bigger and better serves as great news for a starved fan base. Now fans might even look forward to watching NBA preseason games this year.
