Darren Goforth Victim-Blamed By #BlackLivesMatter Supporter
Slain police officer Darren Goforth is reportedly being victim-blamed by a white #BlackLivesMatter supporter, and her polarizing comments are going viral — even after she deleted them from social media in an attempt to distance herself from them. Breitbart Blog reports that Monica Foy publicly tried to justify the sheriff deputy’s death by insinuating that he could be some kind of “perv.” Of course, she offered no evidence to substantiate such an idea, other than basing her opinion merely off of his appearance.
Monica Foy took to Twitter to broadcast her opinion regarding the execution-style murder of officer Darren Goforth.
“I can’t believe so many people care about a dead cop and NO ONE has thought to ask what he did to deserve it. He had creepy perv eyes…”
Of course, her comment was met with an onslaught of angry replies from numerous people — to the point that she chose to delete what she said. She then posted a tweet with simply the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter. It was too late, however, because the disparaging comment was screenshot — and is now going viral. Unfortunately for her, the virality of her comments has also attracted quite a lot of abuse from people who are outraged, not only by the death of the sheriff’s deputy, but her polarizing comments about whether or not he deserved it. While emotions are running high, there are plenty of unacceptable comments coming from those who oppose the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and plenty of comments that are also dripping with racism, under the guise of sympathy for Darren Goforth’s family.

Monica Foy’s comments about Goforth’s death and his “creepy perv eyes,” are a type of victim-blaming. In fact, her comments are in the same vein as comments about the length of a rape victim’s skirt. After all, just because someone may appear to have “creepy eyes,” does not mean that they are, in fact, creepy. Having a certain look about you doesn’t give others the free pass to assault or murder you — nor does wearing a certain type of clothing.
Currently, the hashtag #MonicaFoy is trending with hundreds of people attacking the woman and calling for her removal from Sam Houston University, where she is studying English Lit. Meanwhile, others on social media are debating whether or not her comments were made in satire or sarcasm. Regardless of her intent, she has certainly attracted quite the backlash.
Darren Goforth was shot at least 15 times while he was pumping gas at a Houston, Texas gas station. The officer was a 10-year-veteran of the police force. Authorities in Houston believe that the #BlackLivesMatter movement is to blame for this horrific shooting of one of their finest officers.
