Kanye West For President In 2020? Kim Kardashian ‘Behind Him 110%’

By now, you must have already heard about Kanye West’s intention of running for president in 2020. If you haven’t already, here’s what he had to say during his 12-minute acceptance speech at this year’s video music awards.

“I don’t know what I stand to lose after this; it don’t matter though, because it ain’t about me, it’s about new ideas, bro, new ideas. People with ideas, people who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

Note that Kanye dropped the mic after his speech. For emphasis, perhaps?

The audience and the entire world may have been surprised at what Kanye said, but a source told Hollywood Life that Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, wasn’t taken aback by his speech at all.

“She wasn’t surprised at all with this speech. He discussed what he was going to hit on with Kim and everyone in that family knows Kanye’s political aspirations. Kim couldn’t have been prouder.”

So, if the source is credible, we can expect Kanye West running for president five years from now. The source also said that Kanye West was serious about what he said, and Kim Kardashian, who may be the future First Lady, supports her husband completely.

“She thinks Kanye is what the country needs. He was not joking when he said he’s going to run in 2020, and Kim is behind him 110%”

If Kanye West is serious, he might want to run for a lower position first to test the waters. According to Richard Skinner, a political science professor at George Mason University, going from being a celebrity straight to being a president is quite unusual. As he said to The Guardian, other celebrities such as Ronald Reagan first held lower positions before announcing their intention to run for president.

Does the idea of Kanye West running for president seem too far-fetched? Joanna Allhands of AZ Central doesn’t think so. In a piece she wrote entitled “Allhands: The Genius of Kanye West for President,” she notes that Kanye West could be today’s Donald Trump.

“He could be the 2020 version of Donald Trump: Generally hated, yet still, for some reason, people keep putting him on stage. Because he always performs.”

Furthermore, she states that Kanye West may be on to something.

“He said that the election was (or should be) about ‘people with ideas’ — and in so doing, admitted what no 2016 candidate is willing to say: That he doesn’t have the answers, but there are smart people out there who do.”

Kanye West’s announcement had mixed reactions. While there are people who think that him running for president is ridiculous, there are others who support him. In fact, there is already a countdown site dedicated to Team Kanye West 2020.
