Nicki Minaj Channels Beyonce At 2015 VMAs, Stuns In Gold Gown [Video]
Nicki Minaj still attended and performed at the MTV Video Music Awards despite being passed over for a Video Of The Year award for “Anaconda,” and stunned in a metallic gold dress that channeled Beyonce’s 2015 Met Gala gown. The show-stopping floor-length dress Nicki wore was designed by Labourjoisie and valued at $15,000, reports Page Six.

Similar to Beyonce’s Met Gala gown, the Labourjoisie gown worn by Nicki showed of the “Anaconda” singer’s curves and was accented with pearls. The gorgeous dress was sheer to Minaj’s thighs and featured a small train, as well as a keyhole cutout highlighting her stomach, according to Hollywood Life.
At the 2014 VMAs, Nicki made headlines after an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction – a scene with Minaj thankfully avoided this year. According to a 2014 article on MTV, Nicki lost part of her dress during her opening performance with Ariana Grande and Jessie J. When the girl group got to “Bang Bang,” Minaj accidentally suffered a wardrobe malfunction. Poor Minaj was tastefully dressed in a little black dress, which accidentally flew open in the middle of the song! Minaj swiftly held together the dress as the trio completed the performance – but not before the world could see what happened.

This year, Nicki suffered no such debacle and treated fans to an insider look at the VMAs as she shared photos on her Instagram account – including a close-up glimpse of that stunning dress. In the photo, Nicki shows off her curves, and captioned the photo “Thank u for your ‘best dressed’ lists.”
During her opening performance at the 2015 VMAs, Minaj stunned again in a shocking red number, which channeled a Las Vegas dancer. Nicki was hard to miss as she wore a tall feather head dress while surrounded by male dancers as she performed “The Night Is Still Young.” The performance got even more shocking when half way through “The Night Is Still Young,” Minaj was joined by Taylor Swift. The duo sang “Bad Blood” together as they gazed into each other’s eyes, and at times holding hands, reportedly ending their now-famous Twitter feud.

According to Hollywood Life, Minaj and Swift got into a heated debate when Nicki was passed over for a VMA nod for “Anaconda.” Nicki took to Twitter to complain about the snub, posting that “it seemed like you had to be a skinny pop star to get noticed for the coveted Video of the Year category.” Taylor angrily tweeted back, assuming that Minaj was referring to her nomination for “Bad Blood.” Eventually things were sorted out, although egos were bruised for a while.
