The Teen Wolf mid-season finale packed a lot of punch – and punches – while revealing some spoilers for the remainder of season five.
Foremost, Teen Wolf character Deputy Jordan Parrish (Ryan Kelley) is a Hellhound. The long wait to find out Parrish’s identity is over thanks to a scene in the show where he reveals himself in front of Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) and other police officers at the station.
The decision to make Parrish a hellhound was explained in an Entertainment Weekly interview by Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis as a complex choice that will have a lot of potential ramifications moving forward in this season.
“We had a couple different ideas [for Parrish] at first, but we ended up on this because we knew that we wanted Parrish’s role to be morally on the fence. You don’t know whether he’s a good guy or a bad guy but that he serves a function, that he is definitely there for a reason, that he was drawn to Beacon Hills for a purpose, and the purpose of a Hellhound is they’re a guardian of a supernatural place and that’s what he is. And we’re going to find out just what that role entails in season 5B and how dangerous it’s going to become for the rest of the characters.”
Second, Teen Wolf gained a new villain when Theo (Cody Christian) turned evil. He revealed himself and his plans to Scott (Tyler Posey) at the library.
“I’m the first chimera. It’s the coyote part you don’t notice. That’s why Malia [Shelley Hennig] trusted me first.”
Theo is interrupted by Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) as the supermoon has made Liam angrier than usual. He confronts the Teen Wolf star about helping Hayden (Victoria Moroles) by biting her and turning her into a werewolf. When Scott denies the request, Liam attacks him. The fight leaves Scott hurt.
Theo’s plans called for Scott to die, however, and Theo returns to finish the job before the end of this Teen Wolf mid-season finale. In a final fight, Theo rams his claws into Scott’s stomach and leaves him to die in the library.
Later, Mason (Khylin Rhambo) discovers Scott’s body, and the Teen Wolf star’s mom Melissa (Melissa Ponzio) resuscitates her son after Scott had been dead over 15 minutes. Melissa cannot do the same for Hayden, however, as Hayden dies in her arms.
Theo isn’t done. The new Teen Wolf villain returns to Nemeton with Lydia (Holland Roden). There, he injects all of the newly dead teens with a serum to bring them back to life again. Theo teases that he is creating his own pack in the process.
