Britney Spears, Demi Lovato Officially Join ‘The X Factor’

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato have officially joined “The X-Factor.”

Fox held its Upfront presentation today in New York and confirmed that Britney and Demi were joining the judge’s panel on Simon Cowell’s popular singing show.

Cowell fired Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger at the end of last season and promised that he was going to fill their chairs with some amazing talent. When Cowell took the stage today, he said:

“Well, we delivered. This has taken a year, and I am thrilled to be able to confirm the return of L.A. Reid, and the addition of Demi Lovato and the superstar Britney Spears.”

Britney and Demi also talked about how excited they were to be joining the show.

Spears said:

“I’m so excited about this whole experience. It’s going to be so much fun and so different than anything I’ve ever done. I’m ready to find a true star.”

Demi told E! Online:

“I’m totally stoked to be here, because of not only the opportunity to be a judge here, but the presence of you guys. It’s just an honor to be standing next to you. I’m excited to represent my generation, and I’m ready to find the winner.”

Cowell and Fox are obviously excited about next season, but not everyone is sure that Spears was the right choice. Howard Stern started a little bit of controversy last week when he said that Spears would make a terrible judge and is only joining the show for the publicity.

Stern said:

“I think Britney is going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit. I don’t anticipate great opinions out of her. I think she’s going to sit there like J.Lo and [say], ‘Oh, you’re wonderful. You’re terrific. Do you think I could get a perfume endorsement out of this? You think I could perform on the show?’ I think that’s what it’s about. I’ll tune in to see what kind of train wreck she is, absolutely.”

Do you think Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will make good judges on “The X Factor?”
