How Josh Duggar Undermined The Sanctity Of Marriage

Josh Duggar cannot catch a break. After being compelled to confess to childhood molestation charges, Josh Duggar is pulled back into the headlines, this time for being a valued Ashley Madison customer, according to CNN. While Josh’s wife Anna may (or may not) have already known about her husband’s extracurricular activities, his parents just found out that their son not only was “unfaithful” to his wife, but he undermined the sanctity of marriage.

As expected, Josh Duggar’s faith-filled statement was the consummate mea culpa to his supporters.

“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever.”

And the church said, “Amen.”

Having a porn addiction does not make you a hypocrite, but Josh Duggar didn’t end there.

“The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failure.”

It is safe to say that Josh Duggar has some sexual hang-ups. Many people do, particularly those with strict upbringings like his.

So while Anna was home raising the couple’s tiny tots, Josh Duggar used Ashley Madison to find a woman to do all the things Anna wouldn’t do. Being a mother to small children means she is familiar with toys, just not the toys Josh Duggar wanted to play with.

So what did Josh Duggar really want?

According to Gawker, Josh Duggar wanted someone with “short height,” which makes sense since he is not terribly tall. It also makes sense that he was looking for “someone who can teach” since he lacked experience, as did Anna. It is even understandable that Josh Duggar would seek out a woman with a “high sex drive” since caring for small children all day, every day can wreak havoc on a woman’s sex drive and energy levels. All that makes sense — for any single man who does not relentlessly tout Christian values. But that was not what Josh Duggar wanted.

Josh Duggar wanted to have his cake and eat it too. Josh Duggar wanted the facade of the perfect family while living the life of a playboy. Feeding a porn addiction rather than treating it, posing as a messenger of the virtues of family while weakening his own, opposing divorce while giving his wife $986 worth of reasons to divorce him, leading the public into a false belief that he is anything other than an average, adulterous spouse undermines the sanctity of marriage in very basic way: it violates trust, public and private.

Josh Duggar undermined the sanctity of marriage every day he kissed his wife and children goodbye, leaving home to find fulfillment in a stranger’s bed. He violated trust in a very big way again.

On Josh Duggar’s own website, he celebrates the power of faith in God.

“We all make mistakes, but God looks at our heart and says that when we give him what we have left, he can take it and do great things!”

Fortunately, if Josh Duggar still believes that, he’s got nowhere to go but up.
