‘Friends’ Deleted Scene: ‘Friends Airport Security’ Uncovered On YouTube – Deleted Due To Chandler Bing’s Bomb Joke [Video]
A deleted scene from the sitcom Friends has swelled to more than 3.6 million views on YouTube. Included along with the viral Friends video is the rationale behind why it was deleted in the first place — because it would have aired very soon after the 9/11 tragedy.
As reported by CNN, fans of the Friends viral YouTube video must surely want to see a reunion happen due to the popularity of the YouTube video. At the beginning of the viral video, an explanation is given about why the scene was first deleted — and why it was later chosen to appear on YouTube.
“The following scenes were deleted from the episode ‘The One Where Rachel Tells Ross’ and are being presented here for the first time. The story involved Chandler joking with security at an airport and was to air two weeks after the events of September 11, 2001. In light of this, we decided to replace the original story. As part of the history of the show, we hope that the scenes can now be viewed in the spirit which they were originally intended.”
Chandler brags about having no problem getting a cab and no problem with traffic as “Mr. and Mrs. Bing” try to board a plane to Nassau. Chandler and Monica (played brilliantly by Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox) are bumped up to first class right after they were married en route to their honeymoon.
Federal law prohibits joking about bombing, Chandler jokes as he reads a sign in the TSA area. He is soon taken off to a room whereby the couple is then interviewed and Monica freaks out over having her luggage rifled through.
Just when the couple makes it out of the interrogation room because of Chandler’s jokes about a bomb, Monica gets a call from Joey — who is back in New York with Phoebe — and says he smells gas coming from her apartment. Monica tells him it’s okay to break down the door and not wait for the whole place to blow up, and that’s when she gets in trouble with TSA once more.
The Friends deleted scenes harken back to a time when the sitcom was in its heyday.
As reported by the Inquisitr, other YouTube videos going viral besides the Friends deleted scenes include the dangerous trend of DIY braces. Teens and all folks considering the DIY braces have been warned not to attempt such a feat.
